What are some of the most overrated/overhyped Pokemon in your opinion?

What are some popular Pokemon you just can’t help but feel are a little overrated?

You don’t have to actively dislike them or anything. Just some where you don’t quite get the “hype”.

Here’s some for me:

Nidoking: worse Rhydon.

Gengar: I swear almost everyone that actually was into Pokemon from the start always preferred Haunter?! I feel this rise of love for Gengar came in the 2010’s due to internet culture/hive mind/peer pressure whatever and not due to actual OG love for Gengar. Now, tastes can change over such a long time period of course but idk… just feels kind of forced and fake to me.

Mewtwo: Yea it’s badass, got a unique design and the movie/lore going for it, but still… Doesn’t quite do it for me. Too much of an obvious “cool pick” I suppose.

Rayquaza: Is a very low hanging fruit imo. Just design yet another cool looking dragon and the little kids (especially boys) will eat it right up. Found that very lame even back when I was a kid and gen 3 released.

Salamence: Same thing basically. Just that it doesn’t even have anything remotely unique going for it. Whereas Rayquaza actually looks pretty cool, Salamence is just as bland as it gets for me.

Metagross: Pretty cool concept overall but for me nowhere near Dragonite or Tyranitar for example.

We Armaldo enjoyers need to ally in dark times such as these. There’s way too much Armaldo hate going on over at the fossil poll and I fear the shrimp might not make it much further…

At the risk of crucification; Pikachu. I get it, its classic, its cute, but Pichu, Marill, and Maushold exist, and are much more interesting imo

Umbreon: Espeon better.
Lugia: Ho-oh better.
Tyranitar: Aggron better.
Groudon: Kyogre better.

Every psuedo legendary up to, but not including, Hydreigon

Espeon, Umbreon, Sylveon

Every Gen 4 pokemon outside of the starters, Hippowdon, and Drapion

EDIT: i forgot to mention the gen 7 starters. They are not hated enough

as much as I like them. The kanto trio.. (blastoise may be a little less) but both charizard and venusaur. Like they get everything get into every game and i am saying this. CHARIZARD BEING VERY USELESS COMPETITIVELY STILL MANAGES TO GO INTO EVERY GEN WHY???

Lugia and Dragonite. They both just look stupid, IMO. Lugia has those big ass hands on the end of it’s wings and it looks dumb. Dragonite looks like a dragon that was catered for babies. Maybe if I was 3 I would be more of a fan of Dragonite.
