Any idea why this card has suddenly shot up in value so much? About a month ago it was half the current price!

I really want to add this one to my collection but I just can’t justify spending $500+ on this card in PSA 10 condition.
That is pretty crazy…
There are thousands of PSA 10s out there. I would just give it some time and the price will fall back down to a stable level. It may be a buyout or a byproduct of the Japanese Modern hype this Summer 2023. Hard to know exact reasons.

Based on that sales trajectory and there being like a 90% 10 rate I would personally wait to see if it regresses to the mean.
Thanks guys for the tip on the new website. What a fantastic website! Yeah I was blown away at the way this price has shot up so quickly. I’m like dang I wanted that card lol. Hopefully it comes down later this year and I can pick it up. Maybe it got hyped by some “influencer” lol.
Japanese finally learns theres more than full art trainers. I truly believe alt arts in japan have been underprices and overlooked due to the waifu craze.
I kind of hope you’re wrong on this card LOL. I really want to pick it up for a lower price later haha.
Well I don’t think this card is ever coming down to its previous levels. Maybe, just maybe it will dip down to $300 at some point in the future but I don’t know. It’s become a very popular card. Pop report for PSA 10’s is about 4100 copies for the Japanese Star Birth version (this one) and that’s probably pretty low for the popularity of this card. I decided to go ahead and snag one for a little over $400 which is still less than what a lot of them are going for. I was concerned if I wait to long I’ll get completely priced out. Short term it may dip and I kick myself but long term I think this card is a winner. Incredible artwork, popular pokemon, Japanese. Seems like a good combo for it to age well.
