Metazoo?
lol. Almost didn’t flub that this time. Matazo
All the “wHaT gRaDe WoUlD tHiS cArD gET” posts should be merged into a specific thread.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but Id like to know what others think about this.
My unpopular opinion is that it is easy to tell what grade a card will get before sending it in most of the time.
Id expect alot to agree, but I think people here probably wouldnt want to come off as arrogant and never talk about it which is why I wanted to bring it up.
That’s what I tell my ungraded gem mint wattsees before I tuck them into bed once every 3 months every night.
Kinda, but it comes with the experience that the people usually asking don’t have.
I agree grading is not a complicated endeavor at all, but I try to remember how I felt sending in my first raw card way back. I remember taping the top of the toploader because I thought moisture would slip in lol
This is technically a rule (see The Giant Professional Grading Thread) but we don’t force every grading post in there unless they become a bit excessive, which recently it has been I think. We can start directing more of the basic questions there.
Yes, if you have a good light source, small surface scratches and defects will apear obvious. Some people are also bad at gauging centering, probably the sames that can’t tell wether an art frame is tilted or not.
Pokemon fans who obsess over the card game aspect of it are ironically one of the most toxic and worst communities (especially on pokebeach!)
Sylveon is the most underrated eeveelution and it’s not even close.
Cert # do not matter in the grand scheme of card grading
If the average adult pokemon collector saw a full pokemon restock, they would most likely take as much product as a scalper would. The morality of man is at a all time low nowadays
1 more:
half of the ebay garbage thread contains normal conversations. Having any store requires communication. If you don’t want to communicate, don’t sell the card.
Calling others toxic is probably why you are so sick of the toxicity in Pokemon. What happened to being wholesome? Share your wholesome pokemon stories!
For people that have been around for more than a decade, getting those junk messages day after day, year after year gets very old. Either buy the card or not.
The reason why I made that thread was to try to distract myself from the toxicity. The pokemon hobby has me thinking that it might not end.
This is just bad bait. 90%+ of the 10’s of thousands transactions I’ve done didn’t require any additional communication. Both as a buyer and seller.
If you want to die on this hill about communication, maybe add some nuance or reference examples, as the blanket statements are patently false. Majority of the time the relevant information is in the listing.
I highly recommend cutting ties from IG, facebook, and YouTube for Pokémon stuff. It is hands down the best thing you can do to make this hobby feel normal again. E4 is pretty chill in comparison and you can follow new card releases and discussion without missing out
You gonna have this same energy in a actual brick and mortar store?
I never said that your sales NEVER required communication, just that when someone actually does want to reach out, it goes in the garbage thread half the time.
Let’s say I’m making the biggest purchase of my life, and I want to ask additional questions. Why should I fear getting blocked over asking questions that genuinely determine if I want to purchase? I see these things all the time from posts, especially graded cards asking about scratches on slabs.
If this same energy is in a real store, me and my mom would be out of there so fast, and I think you would be too.
Most sellers aren’t going to block you for asking a reasonable question. Majority of ebay garbage is rude messages and/or time wasters.
Also you referenced ebay garbage thread, not brick and mortar garbage thread. A physical store is a completely different dynamic, and more importantly, a huge outlier. The reality is most people sell online, and in doing so, majority of the time a listing provides the relevant information. If not, a reasonable question will most likely be met with a reasonable response.
Want to add that the ebay garbage thread can give the wrong impression that everyone here is only dealing with problematic buyers. But keep in mind, people aren’t going to post the communications of sales that do go through.
We’re also in the middle of a bubble where there’s heightened interest, so there’s going to be lots of messages from buyers who are completely new or trying to lowball. When you’ve been around for multiple market cycles, you learn to identify who are the serious buyers and who isn’t worth your time from the first message.
I have no energy - haha. I currently have 1 card for sale across all platforms
