*(Updated to include Card and Thank you card)
A while back, I was selling some sealed booster boxes to a customer who came by with his young son, Oscar, who was getting into Pokémon. I gave Oscar all the c/u/r bulk I had from the newest release at the time and let him pick a card from my trade binder.

The dad mentioned that Oscar had drawn his version of the Sunbreon, which I thought was cool.

Later on, I saw that same Sunbreon artwork listed on eBay. I recognised it straight away, placed a bid, and ended up winning it.

After the auction, the dad messaged me on Facebook. He had matched my address to our earlier deal and said Oscar wanted to hand-deliver it. When they came by again, Oscar gave me the original Sunbreon drawing, a thank-you card with a Bulbasaur, and a pack of the 2024 Illustration Contest cards.

I’ve separated that little pack in my collection to keep it safe forever. I’ll post photos of the Bulbasaur and Sunbreon when I get a chance, but for now, here’s a screenshot of the eBay listing.

Im not sure if its quite on the wholesome-level, but the mini story behind my most recent purchase meant a lot to me,
My collection is of some super niche packs, and just finding one can be quite a challenge,
recently I was checking TCGPlayer pages for the individual cards that they contain and I noticed a seller had 10 NM regional championship heatran available, the heatran pack has been one of the ones that even a photo of it has eluded me, I thought it was a super long shot but I decided to message the seller, only to discover I couldnt message sellers on TCGPlayer, I was super bummed until someone in the E4 discord told me you could message sellers if you have bought something from them,
I was kind of worried that the seller would get angry if I did that, but I ended up picking out a cheap card that is one that I enjoy as a card (nintendo blackstar promo beldum, I like beldum)

I rather nervously sent the message asking if the 10 heatran they had listed was a sealed pack, and a little while later got a very kind reply saying it was indeed, and that they would be happy to sell it as the pack and ship it safely to me,

and thus a few days later I got a nicely packed beldum and pack of heatrans in the mail, opening the package was the first time I had ever gotten to even see the heatran pack and it was super exciting

On Saturday after going to a card show with @Josh I was on the train home and sitting across from me was a couple of kids with their mums. The kids had their binders open on the table and were going through their cards sleeving the holos and putting them into top loaders. One of them asked his mum if she could get him more plastic cases as he had ran out but she said that she’d already spent enough on cards already.

I had brought a pack of card savers with me that I never ended up using so I offered them to her in case they wanted them. She looked at me and said “I take it you were at the Pokemon event too” and we laughed. She was genuinely super appreciative and the kids were so happy.

What can I say I’m just doing my small part for the next generation of collectors.

This was back when things were still chill, before 151 even released I think. went to the store I like. I bought a box of paldea evolved. Its the best, most fun to open set. First pack magic I got the Iono Special Illustration Rare. After that I knew I’d be able to get my 2-3 IRs and another SIR/gold card, but I was satisfied. Some kid came in with his dad, they bought a couple things, and I gave him half the remaining booster box. I didn’t pull another SIR/Gold rare, so he got it for sure. I hope it was good.

For anyone who has not seen this thread. I know the word community gets thrown a lot and often gets a bad reputation, but this thread clearly shows the massive positive effect we as card collectors can have on a single person. This was very wholesome to witness and even better to be a part of. Really amazing work by everyone to just uplift the spirits of someone.

Cheers!
