I hate when people hide the grades in their grade reveal videos

That’s a thing? What’s even the point of a grading ‘reveal’ video then, lol?.. :pikaconfused:

So many great new arts recently, but I had a moment of enlightenment:

Collecting things that I simply see and say, “Me want” makes collecting less rewarding.

Collecting toward my goals brings value to my collection, bling does not.

exactly why i haven’t bought an illustrator. just because its pretty doesn’t mean i should add it to my collection.

I think a lot of people have had this realisation with the advent of modern. There’s too much to be able to go after, or even want to go after, everything that catches your eye. More options require more focus.

I gonna drop a spicy one in here;

The recently appeared game play test sets have absolutely zero relevance in collecting and are just being hyped and pushed on social media because of the financial investment a handful of people have in them.

Every set after SWSH Era isnt that great or appealing. Except 151 thats a great set.

And also except the Eevee set and the Rocket set and the Trainer’s set

Of course there is a lot of artificial hype and pushing of these items by people with financial incentive (an irony being most people who bought them early are currently underwater). And of course you don’t have to like them at all. But to say they have “absolutely zero relevance in collecting” is completely absurd

SWSH is considered by many on e4 to be the golden generation of the modern TCG. I’m not so sure set cohesion was that much better than it has been so far in SV. Obviously there are some standout sets like Evolving Skies, but also smatterings of dogshit like Rebel Clash, Darkness Ablaze and Vivid Voltage. I think what makes SWSH better is that it contains more desirable cards with better artwork. There is still potential for SV to produce equally as good if not better sets in the new year, but aside from what they’re planning with Team Rocket, I’m not convinced. I think someone else (might have been pfm) made a comment summing it up perfectly: that you can take most of the individual desirable cards from most of the ultra modern sets, group them together, and not have a clue which set it came from. If SV can pull through with some high quality sets in its second innings, I think the golden generation will evolve into the golden era. :crossed_fingers:

Could also be SWSH got a lot of us back into the hobby. Sounds weird but SWSH stuff is a little bit nostalgic for me because it reignited the Pokemon flame. I was just bored and wandering around Target one day and saw a big display for the video game. I hadn’t touched Pokemon since junior high when FireRed/LeafGreen came out. I thought what the hell, sounds fun, I’ll give it a shot! The rest is history, as they say. The game and eventually VGC led me back to the cards in 2019. Just wish it had happened way before the 2020/Logan Paul boom and prices went out of control :joy:

Charizard, Greninja, Skelliderg, Dragonite, and Hydreigon don’t have that good of a design compared to Feraligatr

What is good about the design of feraligatr?

The totodile line is in my top 10 favorite pokemon, but Feraligatr feels bottom heavy to me.

I ´ m gonna be honest here, I have no clue why I like a standing gator more than a fake dragon or ninja frog, or actual dragon, or gator cousin, or dragon cubed
