Other than that, I have a very personal problem with Shauntal and her Jellicent - I failed the Elite Four in Pokemon White like six times because this thing was immune or resistant towards every attack my team knew. Ghost/Water. Did the hydro pump ever miss? Of course

Most of the Pokemon based heavily on inanimate objects are just awful.
I dunno about that mate, I can’t say I would care what opinions people have of my opinions. Dunkey already made that joke. Then again I don’t second guess my own taste like some people. Besides Gold Star, Metagross is a fuckery of a safe, underused Lovecraftian/ Tuskamoto worship design that Steelix did better and harder akin to what Jynx was to Garde. Metang is awful and Beldum is creep drone perfection.
If you think it’s half the fun then you may as well give up either playing the games or collecting as it would be too much. I suppose learning and trying to make a difference in seeing something new is more inspiring then hearing the same point across all your life.

Obviously, “all” is an exaggeration that usually doesn’t work out.
I barely know many of the Pokemon in later generations.
But most of the Pokemon I can think of based *heavily* on inanimate objects - like Rotom, the trash bag Pokemon, the ice cream cone Pokemon, the key chain Pokemon, etc. are not ones I particularly like.
Ultra Beasts, Carnivine, Durant, elemental monkeys from gen 5…
I won´t start naming every new gen pokemons that sucks cos the list would be too long, so here are the worst pokemons of all time imo:

Indirect cultural influence is pretty abundant when you can see it focused like Tyranitar to Godzilla, Nidos at Baragon, Zygarde with Cell etc. When GF go that route they’re perhaps aren’t official about confirming it because of the obvious bad shit that can happen and can be redirected into a neutral view where a majority of designs fit into an amalgamation across several ideas.
Generally speaking either the more humanoid, the more object-like or the more ‘simplified’ (like that cufant that @shadowless mentioned) they look like, the less I like them. I found this video just yesterday, which sums the topic up pretty well for me.
Interestingly many of the Pokemon mentioned in this thread are also prominent examples used in the video.

You know what? I thought I was mostly cool with all Pokémon with maybe a slight dislike for the Simis. But this one is truly terrible. I’d love to meet the person that legitimately loves Probopass.
80% after Gen 3, 90% after Gen 4, and especially the haunted sand castle, ugly garbage pile, and any others that are neither particularly creative nor aesthetically pleasing!
i’m definitely not happy with some of the past designs, but to me gen 8 is just atrocious. easily the worst batch of designs in my opinion. here are some of the worst offenders

Oh, that’s a tough question. I’ve grown to like many Pokemon I initially hated over the years, including just about all of them you guys have listed. I think Gen 8 introduced some real shit tier Pokemon like Cinderace, Polteageist, the horror show that is the Mr Mime line, and the absolutely ridiculous Eternatus. I’ve grown to expect the Pokemon style to change with time, but Eternatus is such an spectacularly garbage, doodle-in-my-notebook design and I will stand by that until the end of time.
I also still hate Volbeat, Illuminise, Keldeo, and think the Necrozma fusions look exceptionally stupid.
Love/hate relationship with Blissey. I’ll collect them, but in the back of my mind I know that without Blissey, Chansey could have gotten a Prime, another utlra rare, be the holo in every set… the resentment lingers… Chansey went from the highest HP Pokemon ever and a holo rare in Base set to just another common or uncommon in new sets.
Mr Mime, it shouldnt even be a pokemon :7
