What are your 2025 collecting goals?

• very low population high end card (art academy Mew/Kyogre/Pikachu, Japanese Espeon gold star, Trainer 1/2/3 prize, Umbreon Daisuki promo, Master’s key, any Snap card…

Found some really tricky-to-get grimers for the master set and overall have made great progress. Other than that, mainly looking for a new sub-goal to pursue tbh.

I want to make progress on a couple of goals:

1. Collect the Radiant cards in CGC Pristine. Radiant Charizards are done, Radiant Alakazam is back on its way from grading. Hopefully Pristine. Continuously looking for grade-able copies of the Radiant cards is hard. Radiant Eevee continues to elude me with a good copy.

2. Collect the Amazing rare cards in CGC Pristine. Rayquaza and Zacian are done. Celebi and Reshiram are back from grading. Let’s hope they are Pristine as well.

3. Grade a couple of cards I have set aside for a while as “super-clean” and which I think have cool artwork. Includes Mew SVP053 and Lucario SWSH291. I think these promos are super cool looking! I’m more of a fan of this Mew promo than the bubble Mew, and I have both of them.

As always, I keep an eye out at conventions for nice copies of other cards to possibly Pristine as well. Partially to fund the collection and partially to gain grading experience. Recently picked up an Ethan’s Ho-oh 239 which looks clean. Would look amazing with the gold Pristine logo.

80% Piplup line + Dawn/Hikari/Akari master set completion

Currently at 76.59% at the moment, but we’ve got an entire 6 months to get to that 80% mark, and I’m right on schedule for hitting that by the end of the year if everything goes smoothly, knock on wood

All in all, I’m really happy with what I’ve been able to accomplish this year, and I can’t wait to see updates from others here too!

My goals are as follows:

• Complete Japanese and English PSA master set for Froslass (almost done with JP already, Have good progress on English as well, so this is very attainable but may take a while)
• Get to at least 75% complete on my JP Mismagius PSA Master set (currently at 32%) JP Master Set Request logged 12/29)
• Complete at least 3 PSA submissions
• Downsize my collection/declutter. Get a wall mount display(s) for PSA cards

So, halfway through 2025, I have completed one PSA sub with one currently in progress and another planned later this year (TAT have gotten worse so hopefully it will be done in 2025 .

I have definitely downsized my collection and have decluttered a good bit. I’ve also gotten a wall mounted display!

I have added a bunch of froslasses to my master set and have about 5 more cards to grade/acquire to be caught up to 100%.

I have 11/27 JP PSA 10 Mismagius (40% complete) having graded a few this year.

As a collector, finish up my Swablu/Altaria masterset and my Yuka Morii collection. If both of those happen, then start working on my HYOGONOSUKE collection!

If I can acquire the funds from selling some of my 2016-2020 stuff that i am not that attached too i want to use it to purchase a Trainer Certification Card (Grand Party) in preferably a PSA 9 or 10. It’s been a personal grail for me for a long time and would be my biggest single purchase in Pokémon.

I’m also still currently hunting a Drifblim FB Beat Of The Frontier prize in a PSA 10, Though if i can fight my OCD a 9 will do. (The rest of the set will be in 10)

Excited for you to be able to finish this goal. These are really gorgeous cards. Since I am a binder collector I made a very rookie mistake of cracking open a very gorgeous Drifblim PSA 9 fro my binder collection.

It was my first ever graded card purchase and it went unnoticed on auctions. In hindsight I think I should not have cracked it since they are very hard to come by. Card and high grades at that.

Hoping you can pick one up! The Grand Party card is stunning in person and has some amazing history behind it. Trophy-esque without the trophy card cost barrier.

The price for a PSA 9/10 has gone up compared to the 2024 low but not by much. This card retraced quite a bit from the 2020/2021 bubble and never went back up so I’d say now is as good a time as any to try and grab.

For 2025:

1. Continue working on AR/SAR Japanese Black Bolt and White Flair master set. Not going for the regular cards or poke/master ball variants. Just the AR/SAR part of the set. I only like 17 of the gen 5 mons but my god are those AR/SARs incredible.

Recently (2 days ago) purchased all 144 ARs for 434 bucks (3 bucks a card) from Mercari Japan through Buyee thanks to some random 15% off Mercari Japan discount code. Hopefully gonna fill in the pricier SARs as they go down in price as the English set releases and hype fades by the end of the year. Second set I’ve ever wanted to master after PokeKyun

2. Continue working on my English and Japanese Kamonabe master set

3. Continue working on Kuroimori English and Japanese master set

4. Continue filling light blue Vault X 12 pocket binder 480 card of Vaporeon SV168 until it is full (about 42% there) because it is the only amazing Vaporeon card in the entire SV block and the other 3 arts (not counting CGI card) are wack

5. Start picking up all Mega block Mega Pokemon ARs and SARs in Japanese (if there are any) and I pray none of the AR and SARs have that giant butt ugly writing plastered across the card. Hopefully each mega new and existing gets one so I have a full on Mega gallery.

The ugly cards of the old mega full art and full art secret rare cards (the tag team Mega Sableye and Tyranitar alt being a gorgeous exception) was so ugly it made me not want to own pursue getting any of them and I will never want that filth, that era of cards was a huge disservice to a lot of amazing mega designs.

6. Go and enjoy Worlds with my little brother! (was able to get a ticket for him!!!)

7. My most exciting goal will be getting a custom frame for the watercolor art I have commissioned Kamonabe to make and a I’ll order a little museum style art info card from Etsy. She has been my favorite Pokemon artist for almost 3 years long before illustrating for the TCG, so it will be my personal holiest grail item even though it is not an art of a Pokemon since she does not draw copyrighted characters.

My new, change-of-pace goal is matching some of my favorite artbox action flipz and holo stickers with holo energy cards. Registeel is the example I’m going for (others are non-holo still). The swirl is a fun touch when tilting the cards to see pokemon image change.

The end goal is to have a holo energy backer on each starter/legendary pokemon + a few others for some shiny binder pages. If it looks too tacky, then I’ll have nice collection of holo energies

How’s everyone looking in the home stretch?

I will buy 2 shadowless psa 9 cards in December.

I ended up getting TRR PSA 8s buts thats only for the big hitters. I also bought a CGC 9.5 and will go for one more card in December.

Shining Tyranitar did not happen. Not sure if I push this to next year or not.

Pack fresh WOTC commons did not happen. I was hoping to collect some Neo Destiny with these.

I ended up buying a Quick Starter Articuno in February. Very happy with that. Feels like I bought that years ag.

I’m extremely happy with the goals I achieved this year. Selling in the bull market helped a lot in my ability to knock off these items. I’ve been able to pick up several other higher value items off my list that I didn’t include as goals since I thought they were unreasonable. I even managed to use sales to contribute a significant amount to my house fund.

Reflecting on the year I spent a lot of money on items not on this list. This was the result of my collecting goals changing during the year in a way they haven’t before as I pivoted a lot of time and resources into non-TCG or TCG adjacent items.

Still have 2016 Festa on my list and I am only a few cards away from finishing all English Pikachu full arts in PSA 9. The XY Pikachu EX promo was expensive but it’s a CGC 8.5 I’m cracking for my next PSA sub so wish me luck.
