Main goal of 2022 was to complete my PSA 9 Vs collection, but I got sidetracked too many times. Also still waiting for PSA to get a little cheaper before I send in the raw cards I have. About 35% of the way slab wise and over ~60% card wise.
Going to keep things a little loose moving forward.
Main focuses being;
- Vs PSA 9s
- EX Legend Maker PSA 9 Reverse Holos (25%)
- EX Rocket Returns PSA 9 Reverse Holos (10%)
Side Quests include:
- Heartgold, Soulsilver, and Reviving Legends holos
- Japanese E-Series and Ex Series holos
- Vending Series
- Japanese Alt Arts (40%)
I should probably sell some stuff to make room for these goals, but I suck at getting rid of things, so we’ll see. These goals will probably be 2024s and 2025s goals as well.

I met none of my 2022 goals. However, the most important collection feat accomplished was a complete English Prime set in mint condition. My 2023 goals are smaller and more concise which hopefully will encourage focus.

I seem to always skip these threads as I often don’t have specific goals when collecting.
However, in this coming year I’d like to start optimizing my collection. I closed my eBay store for pretty much all of 2022 in order to move and focus on my new job. I never stopped buying though… So I’ve got a ton of random items I really don’t need/appreciate.
I have also been thinking about doing something with my graded collection. I rarely look at the cards and often check a spreadsheet to see what I have. Either if that means selling them or just looking at them more often I don’t know.
As for an actual collecting goal, I’d like to catch up on all the Komiya releases in the last 5 years as this year I finished my 1998-2017 binder.
Finishing my Start Deck 100 master set should be a good challenge. I also wanted to make a fun program that would optimize exactly which decks to buy to finish the set with the least amount of money/extra cards.
I also think I should take a break for a few months to save and enjoy life

Many of my “core” collecting goals are completed or near-completed, so I would like to relax a bit over the next year.
My hopes for 2023:
- More card shows/events to buy/trade/sell in person
- Continuing to sell what I no longer want and upgrading when feasible
- Hanging out with all of you
- Revisiting the video games
- Watching the anime and movies
- Focusing on my niche and developing interests

Quick retro from '22:

· Upgrade my PSA 9 Gym Heroes set to PSA 10s
- I changed my mind a couple months into '22. I started collecting 1st ed 10’s from many WOTC sets as they came up and I felt like I was getting a good deal. Felt like a better use of my time and money to tackle multiple that I know I’ll want to get eventually.
Goals for 2023:
- Try to be more engaged with the other folks in the hobby, I don’t talk to many other collectors.
- PSA 10 Holo Sets: Complete my Jungle set, and continue on other WOTC sets (focusing on Discovery, Gym Heroes, and Genesis).
- Complete my PSA 10 set of Rainbow Rares from the S&M Era.

I always enjoy having a look back to see how my collection has evolved. Let’s see how I have done this year.
2022 Collection Review
1. Complete 1st Edition Jungle in Spanish: 58/64 --> 58/64
2. Complete 1st Edition Fossil in Spanish: 60/62 --> 60/62
Although I have completed them without the 1st edition stamp, I am exactly in the same position I was 1 year ago. I have dedicated my resources to another goal. See point 4.
3. Complete Vending series: 69/125 --> 78/125
Driven away by my main goal, I got some cards early this year. But It is definitively something I want to pick up again. I really love those cards.
4. Pokemon & Trainer are ready to battle, in which Pokemon
and trainer appear in the card and they are ready to battle.
The theme is really subjective, as I remove some cards I do not enjoy.
47/134 --> 173/XXX
This 4th point took all my attention this year, adding up to 126 cards to this theme, which it is now cards in which people and Pokemon are present. I really enjoy this theme, picking up and investigating cards covering all TCG cards. Quite a diverse collection.
2022 Highlights
- 1st time to worlds (as spectator). There are no words to explain how I much enjoyed the experience. I cannot wait for Japan 2023.
- Competing in the London Open, in 1 Regional, and in 2 Special Events. I love how healthy and supportive the Pokemon community is. I will continue competing in some future events. I love travelling with my team! Such an experience.
2023 Goals

Pokemon & Trainer are ready to battle: Keep growing the collection. No specific goal, except for 2-3 cards I would really like to add to my collection. Only Japanese cards, except for those not released in Japan. I am currently on 175 cards. Sun & Moon is at 54/74 and Sword & Shield at 69/127 (s12a not counted yet).

Im considering 2022 a massive success for my collection. I’m two cards away from finishing my 1st Ed base set which is huge for me. (Still a few weeks left in the year, we’ll see!) I did preemptively jump into other sets and expanded my Worlds collection but I’m very happy I did. I was also much more active on the forum thanks to the amazing upgrade.
My 2023 goals:
• Complete 1st edition Jungle PSA 9 set
• Attend Worlds in Japan
• Continue to be patient and enjoy the ride.

I think I accomplished that. Interesting to note that I bought 0 cards on eBay and 0 graded cards this year - it was all raw cards from Japan.
For 2023 my goal is to sell most of my stuff and spend a lot less time on cards in general.
