What are your 2022 Pokemon collecting goals?

Last year I’ve spent a bit too much than I should’ve because I’m just done renovating and furnishing my house. This year I’ll have more to spend but I want to spend it less impulsively. There are a select amount of cards I’d like such as specific Japanese promos and a couple of graded English cards.

Perhaps one day I’ll be able to post my own, small yet humble, collection here!

I’m hoping to make a non-holo binder of the first 151 Pokémon, but it’s an art appreciation binder. What that means is that for each Pokémon I’m picking the art I like the most. It’s been really fun to go through the Serebii database picking them out!

That’s so cool! I thought I was one of the few collecting purely based on artwork taste. I love your concept, it’s so original. Literally as well I suppose!

1. Finish my Evolving Skies master set. I’m 3/4 way done, and just need to purchase some of rainbow rares and eeveelution vmax alternate arts.

2. Purchase a miscut card in a different language besides English.

3. Start collecting cards from a particular artist. I’m thinking I’ll start with Tomokazu Komiya, as it is one of my favorite artists for the TCG.

mines is more of just completing my gold star collection and maybe work more on my CP6 master set which are just the URs.

Mine is to finally grade my first edition holo and gold stars. Get them in while the value has cooled. Just wish i wouldve graded them 5+ years ago!

I want to finally grade some high end cards with PSA. I also want to continue to save towards the eevee fan club card, buy the Masaki Gengar PSA 8, buy Charizard e-card lottery promo PSA 9/10 (preferably 10), and maybe a gold star or two or first ed shiny. I don’t expect to complete all of these this year, but we will see how it goes. Last year I ran into a few hiccups that prevented me from achieving last year’s goals. That’s life though.

• Start a ‘‘single pokemon collection’’, I have been so inspired by the people on this forum who does this and show of their collections of a single pokemon that I have decided to try do the same. Haven’t decided on a pokemon yet tho and that seems to be the biggest obstacle hehe. Right now thinking about Surskit, Oddish or Cubone - To be continued…

• Complete a raw set of base set unlimited and put it in a binder, I have about 25-30% atm just laying around in sleeves but I really feel like I want to complete after randomly stumbling upon a few new holos that I bought on a whim.

• Connected to the goal above is also another goal, which is to complete a full set.

• Buy an english booster box of Primal Clash for my sealed collection. Just love the set and think the box looks great.

• Get my hand on as many Alt arts as possible. After the old EX cards they are by far my favourite type of cards, always excites me to look up a new set to see which pokemon gets one and how it looks. Really hope they continue with it for a long time.

Easiest way to upload photos is upload to imgur, go to “share links” and copy paste the Forum code.

If you want to use an image from another site just copy the image url and then add [ img ] at the beginning and [ /img ] at the end just without any spaces

Best of luck on these and happy to share some of my lessons learned regarding a single pokemon collection. I started Gyarados in Summer of 2020 and only have a few outstanding.

This thread is a good reminder for me to post my collection updates in my thread.
My Goal for the remainder of 2022 is to collect the remaining English Gyarados variants in NM Condition/PSA 8+.

Given where I am in the journey, the reality of it is that I will need to purchase them already slabbed. Out of 103 unique English variants and cameo’s I only have 12 that remain.

To finally finish my psa 10 wotc black star promo collection. I think it’s doable I currently have 35 apart from the eevee and venusaur which are 9s, they’re just to far out of my price range and if I ever did have the funds for them I couldn’t justify spending it on cards.
I’d also like to get a e3 red cheeks pika in a psa 7 or higher, same goes for prefable, 1st Ed ivy pika and no hp Persian.

Is a year a reasonable amount of time to finish the Pokedex? I guess I at least want to make progress on it. I’m currently at 584 of the 898, which is a lot of progress very quickly, but the vast majority are from the S&S sets. I assume there are some less popular older Pokemon that don’t get cards as often.

If you’re not going for e-series Holos, I think a year should be more than enough time. 300 remaining / 12 months = around 25 per month. Good luck on your Pokedex!

I’m just wanting at least 1 of every Pokemon for the dex part of my collection. Doesn’t matter which card. So hopefully that makes it easier!
