Vivid Voltage Megathread

Store promo for this set is Snorlax, possibly the best main set stamped store promo I’ve seen since I started in 2016! So far in the UK only spotted at WH Smith stores (likely around a £10 minimum spend). Waterstones and others might have it though after lockdown ends on December 3rd.

You get these by spending money at a store that gives these out? Never heard of store promos before.

In Europe currently only, sometimes they do come to the USA though. Every three months for each main set. Detective Pikachu had some store promos also.

I’m from Europe. Cool, didn’t know that. Let’s see if I get some when I order my Vivid Voltage booster box(es).

Really nice promo! Apparently you have to spend £15 in store to get it. Every store I have been to have none and they don’t even know about it …

Another person had mentioned a minimum £25 in store purchase to get one

Ive pulled 2 Pikachu VMaxs and they both have super terrible centering, one of them even seemed angled instead of straight

coming from vintage years and only back to modern since hidden fates, the angled stuff is crazy to see. never/rarely saw that on my wotc stuff.

Apparently it’s possible to open modern booster boxes and not pull any Secret Rares… sigh  Just opened my English Vivid Voltage booster box. I wasn’t expecting the Hyper Rare Pikachu Vmax of course (which has 1/1000 pull rate from what I’ve heard), but at least one Secret/Hyper Rare would have been nice, lol. What a bust.

Quick summary of what I got:

  • 1 FA Supporter Ultra Rare
  • 2 Amazing Rares
  • 2 Vmax Ultra Rares
  • 1 V Ultra Rare
  • 3 regular V’s (including the 3 USD Pikachu V, yay… at least one out of four Pikachu cards I guess)
  • 7 Holofoil Rares
  • 33 34 Reverse Holos

33 Reverse Holos + 2 Amazing Rare in the rev holo slot would be 35 packs right? Maybe the secret rare is in the missing pack?
Jokes aside my luck is terrible with modern packs too but it definitely sucks if you have a chance at not getting a single secret/hyper from a modern box, i thought that was the whole point in buying a sealed booster box. Would it be considered an error box or just bad luck?

I’m hoping eventually they will do something to either replace the Holo Rare pulls or enhance them in some way. They usually make up half the hits of a box, and they dont give you any satisfaction as a hit (99% of the time).

Oops. Nope, that’s just me who miscounted the Reverse Holos. There are 34. I also counted the wrappers just in case, and there were indeed 36 packs, as expected.

And I don’t know. I also thought it was guaranteed a Secret Rare per box, but apparently not. Or I got very unlucky to get an error box.. :downcast_face_with_sweat: They make a lot of printing mistakes, so wouldn’t really surprise me if I do indeed have an error box.
Ah well, at least I’m reminded again to just buy singles like I usually do and just ignore boxes..

Yeah the Holo cards suck in modern sets. I dislike the regular V’s too. Love the amazing rares, gives me sort of a vintage feel

@quuador oof bad luck. I got a secret rare in all (5) boxes that I opened, but 3/5 were the gold foil trainer cards I really don’t collect. And of course no rainbow pika for me either :slightly_frowning_face:

7 boxes / 6 ETBs

rainbow pika, 2 vmax pikas, 4 goldens, 3 rainbow trainers

oh and like… maybe 12-14 amazing rares, I lost count. No celebi but multiple of everything else, with 3-4 of some of them

I think they’re actually a big step up from the holos in the XY-S&M era.

Vivid is the only modern set Iv opened up. The Holo artworks themselves aren’t bad, I just dislike the Holo pattern. Very unappealing to me

In that case, yeah, cosmos will never be beat.
