I know how you feel. A couple weeks after Darkness Ablaze released, I noticed my job had nearly a full stock of DA + SwSh 2-packs. I didnât want to buy packs, but I didnât want to buy the Charizard VMAX for $100 either. I knew that there is a specific individual who comes to the store and clears us out of Pokemon cards (he did it with the 2-packs and 3-pack blisters the previous two weekends) so I figured fine, I shouldnât waste this opportunity, so Iâll buy some packs.
I took 10 packs off the shelf on my break and bought them. I didnât want to, but I did. And its a good thing I did! An hour later I walked by the card wall and ALL the 2-packs were GONE. Store completely wiped, again.
Fast forward to when I get home, and I open the 10 DA packs. Luck was on my side - 7 out of 10 were hits! Whatâs more, Charizard V was in my first pack. And my last? Yep, you guessed it! The chad, STONK ZARD VMAX, baby. I couldnât believe it, I actually let out a cry of accomplishment (read: âLET"S ______ GOOOOOâ)
Havenât opened any packs since then (besides a random CP ETB I found) because I know Iâll just be disappointed like always, haha.
This is what happens when demand is through the roof and printing is hindered by both pandemic restrictions and overwhelming demand. Reprints will definitely be coming! There is a December reprint and likely a few more reprints in 2021. Once the pandemic is over I would expect a large reprint to occur for several sets. Itâs just a matter of time, buy smart and donât let FOMO get the best of you!
Yep, I made a comment with some photos in the VV megathread a few days before release when I got my box. All sorts of edge wear like you showed. Contacted the Pokemon Company and they said to mail the damaged cards to their office and they will replace them if they deem them to be damaged (basically if they wouldnât let them in official Pokemon events).
Edit: Thread got moved here so just go a few pages back if curious to see the pics I uploaded.
When Randolph opened multiple cases on the weekend, most of his Full Art Cards were terribly centered as well. Seems like they dropped the ball on this one quality control wise.
Interesting. I guess they printed these cards 20 years ago and finally decided to release them now that theyâre deteriorating away in their warehouses. Only explanation I could think of for god damn CRACKS on the edge of the card, wtf.
Exactly. DA has charizard which is about the only thing going for it to set it apart from the previous 2 sets. Vivid voltage is actually kind of a pog set with rare fat pikachus and the amazing rares. Iâd say its the first actual good set in the swsh era
@fresco, rumor has it that printing on these sets was affected by the pandemic - to what extent is unknown. I believe the low availability is a combination of that and what krill stated above.
