FWIW, many promo cards from tins, etc. have cosmos holofoil. I canāt really blame them on the vertical line foil pattern - 20+ years of printing cards and theyāve gotta change it up somehow. Weāre occasionally going to see unappealing holo patterns. Itās certainly a step up from the S&M era - the oil spill holo pattern was hardly noticeable on many cards.
Went to get some voltage with a friend yesterday. He lost his job due to lockdowns, so i got him a couple single blister packs to have a lil fun. I open all mine and got some cool things. Then he opens his 1st pack and pulls rainbow pikachu from a single blister. Now he wants 300 bucks for the card i originally paid for lol not my lucky day.
When they realeased they went for 120⬠almost instantly. I wanted to wait until theyāre available for ~100 like normal booster boxes. They are 150+ now.
I know i was waiting for a re stock to occur as well so i could buy them but they seem to be sitting in that range of 160-180 which is madness for newly released set.
Thats why i wanted to know if theres any date or if this will be the norm for the near future.
Just realized it censored to āour honorable presidentā. Such stupid censorship, just ban political talk not censor a common word in the English language
Update: I think I had some beginnerās luck. In the three packs,
-Rainbow rare Orbeetle
-Full art VMAX Darmanitan
and some nice reverse holos.
Hafta say, though, one of the reverse holos was Trubbish⦠The heck is trubbish?? I canāt see people loving or admiring a trash pokemon. It kind of seems like they just looked around the room to think of the next idea for a pokemon. Then again, Iām not the first to say this.
In other news, Iāve never heard of the majority of the pokemon I got xD
The scarcity of the RR Vmax Pikachu seems to be declaring itself as raw and psa 10 prices are going up quickly. Awesome card, I feel like for a lot of the people who got back into collecting in 2020 this will be a signature card for them.
Quite nice for a change that the biggest English set āchaseā card of 2020 ends up literally being a big chunky Pikachu instead of a Zord.
Spoke to my distributor today (UK) and a small Vivid Voltage booster box restock (maybe a reprint, who knows) is scheduled for mid February, same time as Shining Fates. Expensive month!
I was expecting some downward movement like the CP Charizard but it seems that the pull rate on the Pikachu is much worse. Raws had gone down to the 200-250 range and are now regularly selling at about 400. Will be very interesting to see where it falls once the reprints slow down and the PSA backlog of these catches up!
