rattle has the right drip to be a good detective

Who do you think gets screwed in this. Obviously LP will get his money back and I assume the rich guy will be able to get it back from the sports flippers. I’m wondering who down the line is going to be unfortunately out the money in this. I’d guess all of these transactions are irreversible wires.

@fourthstartcg, 100%. The fact no pokemon people were involved any step of the way speaks volumes.

Can’t wait to dig deep into this in patreon. Such a massive example of people out of their depth.

Can anyone even give a rough summary of the law/rules assumingly in America for those wanting a refund? In the UK once its been paid for its yours now pretty much. If there is some proof of fraud/tampering etc maybe but its going to be a long road.

If people care of their name, refunds may be given but hey 3.5mil is a lot.

We dont know if there is a contract written up between them for the sale and what specifics are on that?

Im still skeptical on the box legitimacy too, no mater the analysis or drama around it only time will tell when he opens it if he does to see if its legit.

GREAT VIDEO @rattlebear! I can’t imagine the amount of time and effort you put into researching that topic - everything from the back-story of initial sale and communication with original seller to comparing this case with other WotC Cases down to the label, barcode, and actual tape. Then, the whole ā€œguaranteeā€ (not actually) with Baseball Card Exchange Wrapping. That was a pretty significant selling-point in the original MeelyPop’s Video and for that to be them straight-up lying about any type of ā€œguaranteeā€ just adds more red-flags into there lack of knowledge. That’s some incredible detective work - THANK YOU for taking the time to do that!

After watching both of those videos, I’m right there with you - there’s something wrong with this case, it’s definitely not 1st Ed. Base Boxes… It’ll be impossible for us to tell for certain until if it’s actually opened; however, I’m not even sure if it’s an actual Unlimited Base Set Case after watching those videos. The print on the bottom of the box (recycling info.) doesn’t match-up with other known Unlimited Base Set and/or WotC-Era Cases - that could very well just be a coincidence though. But, when you combine that with the fact that the ā€œStop Tapeā€ is also off from other known WotC-Era Cases and even Gary’s 1st Ed. Base Set Case, it leads me to believe that this entire case is fake and contains something worthless vs. Unl. Base Set Booster Boxes. Why else would that recycling info. and Stop Tape be so different on this case if it were actually an Unl. Base Set Case?

Regardless, the actual contents of this case really don’t matter - it’s definitely not 1st Ed. Base Booster Boxes which is the only thing that really matters here. Hopefully everyone involved within this ordeal are able to get things resolved; however, I can see that turning into an absolute nightmare situation as well if it is ever opened and confirmed fake.

So what your saying is this is Pandora’s Booster Box?

well it will be interesting to see whats inside, I give it a 25% its legit box. most likely its unlimted

The earlier this box is opened, the better. There are potentially a lot of refunds to go through, and getting this started now is key.

Could make for a heck of a video to live stream opening this. Either it shows off his score of 6 1st edition boxes, or shows the viewers that not everything is what you think it may be.

Wow, it’s almost like it’s been said time and time again that in this hobby, you can’t always just throw money around and get what you want. These people were all looking for a shortcut to striking gold and it’s gonna cost someone big time in court lol

Curious to see how this is going to affect graded booster packs if it proves to be a fake case.

Case aside, I think Steve Hart’s overly honest emails was damning enough. What a PR nightmare

Caveat emptor.

That money is likely long gone down the whole line @jcincy101. I heard it was gonna be 10M guaranteed in a few years.

I’ll try and follow up next couple weeks with some added detective work maybe someone else will beat me to it though. Couple ideas I have to follow up on. I still don’t think it’s 100% guaranteed fake but it definitely isn’t settled either way and feels leaning towards fake if I had to bet either way. Funny that BBCE wraps without any kind of guarantee/warranty behind it.

Don’t worry, there is more coming about that.

I had to pause the video after hearing ā€œthe seller in Albertaā€.

I wonder if it’s the same guy who’s notorious for resealing blisters & loose packs. I think he was arrested after trying to scam a cop who was also a collector - or something like that - and was eventually released.

Alberta is fairly close to that seller, who was in British Columbia. Im going to see if i can get that old sellers info from a friend. I think gemmintpokemon was scammed from him too and might remember his information

Edit: the person in question is ā€œpokebutlerā€ or some other rendition of the word butler involving pokemon.

The video is very well done. Certainly someone that did their hw for the good of the community. Always be careful with big purchases for sure.

I wish rattle’s videos were mainstream 500k+ view status, while the current popular stuff was unheard of.

Also happy new year’s everybody!
