Unlistedleaf good or bad for long term community?

I think he is pretty terrible for the hobby. He is the most popular Pokemon Youtuber. People value the circus more than the content and his knowledge of the product is very limited. He is pretty much coasting on his subs now that he gets enough video views to make a decent chunk of change. Leonhart is a small step up from him. I prefer knowledgeable people who have been doing it a while like PrimetimePokemon and smpratte.

Leonhart acts surprised for every little thing. As if he’s never seen a Shadowless Charizard. They’re all pretty cringe worthy, I used to watch all of their videos for the sole
Purpose of seeing what new cards looked like upon box openings. Whether they are knowledgeable or not they are good for the hobby. Nobody is watching those grainy videos of a silent unknown person opening base set boxes and saying it looked exciting.

In Leon’s latest video, PSA Box Opening, I put in a BIG plug for E4. He was familiar with us and was happy to let me push it.

As far as criticizing these guys, my dad always said “Nothing Succeeds Like Success” and with their hundreds of thousands of subscribers
they’re certainly succeeding.

I think he is good And bad. His videos are clearly made for a younger audience, which is needed. The bad is the fake card garbage. There are so many affordable cards, especially in modern that should be the focus. The fact some channels are paid to promote fake cards is disappointing.

Ultimately he helps grow the hobby. It would be optimal If he could drop the fake card bs.

This, hard for me to hate the guy when he seems to be doing quite well for himself.
As for the speculation that he isn’t as into it as he used to be, how do you really know that? I highly doubt any of us hear could read minds from a guy in Australia after watching a few videos of him.

Leon has an account here and visited a couple years ago.

I would hope that he visits again in the future. He has Gary’s blessing and so he certainly has mine.

Thanks:)

Leon’s heart (pun not intended) is definitely in the right place and he genuinely has love for the hobby. What most of us don’t like is his fake reactions. Although I can’t give one f*ck when it comes to what people think about me I still like to keep it real. Opposed to learning from Gary he seems to just be glad that Gary brought Charizards. He doesn’t show interested in demonstrating proper knowledge when it comes to unknown factors of the hobby.

There’s definitely some acting to be expected for the show. In my experience kids don’t care about or even notice poor or bad acting since the edge-of-their-seat excitement and surprised expression keeps them entertained

Plus, Leon is an actor lol.

He hasn’t completely made the cut, Gary.

That makes a lot of sense. Well, there you go

Yeah Leon was/is a voice actor. There is always an element of acting in videos. Even for me, I am pretty reserved in real life.

Also Leon is a super good dude. Always pleasant and positive, and does a lot of charitable work as well.

At the end of the day everyone has a different role to play. There is a saying, “you don’t fight battles with all generals”. You need diversity and differences, just as long as they aren’t quantifiable problems.

Maybe unlistedleaf should start his videos like

‘HEY EVERYONE ITS ‘UN-LISTED
LEAF’ might get some more attention :smirk::ok_hand:

I agree with a lot of the opinions in this thread, however, I think his channel is still a good thing in that he has content that is appropriate and easy to understand for younger collectors. Not to mention the fact that his videos are, while sometimes a bit annoying, exciting enough to maybe help former players or collectors to regain interest in the hobby. Anyone who watches him with the intent to begin collecting seriously surely will branch off and find other sources of reliable information.

Unlistedleaf’s newest eBay listing that he’s promoting in his latest video is just swamped with little kids shilling it. This is truly wonderful.

What are these cards btw? Excuse my ignorance.

They contain no Pokémon TCG cards but some other kind of cards featuring screenshots from Pokémon colosseum.

I’d say it’s disappointing that the largest poketuber basically has no clue about the hobby and spreads misinformation that dramatically ruins markets on cards for most other people in the hobby misusing that information. He also comes across to be in it more for the income in his channel these days rather than actual interest in the hobby.

That said he provides a platform that shows off the hobby and essentially he helps bring in the younger generation who I believe are his target audience. The issue is older watchers taking his words as gospel.

So having such a large channel in the hobby definitely is a positive. It is just a shame the largest poke channel is run by one of the worst poketubers and not by a more deserving poketuber.

“Rare never released”

So with his logic if something wasn’t released in English it was never released.

Makes sense
