Honestly, I’m just worried about the misinformation he brings to the community. I actually think it’s a good thing that he is being overly enthusiastic and act “childish”, because that reduces the credibility of his information.
If you take his videos as entertainment purposes only, I think it’s fine for the younger audiences (or any audience that gets entertained for that matter) since it entertains them. However, I am afraid that some people will overpay and get ripped off by the misinformation brought by this youtuber.
I always thought this aspect of Poketubing was very strange. People with (likely) humble collections send in all or a part of their collection to big channels like UnlistedLeaf or LeonHart.
A lot of the times they could actually get good money for this stuff, but instead they give it away to someone who probably needs it the least.
If you don’t like Pokemon cards - why are you subbing to a channel focusing on Pokemon card openings? Enough that you figured out their address and were willing to pay shipping and handling.
If you like Pokemon cards - why are you giving away your collection for free?
Can I just watch him burn the Japanese toaster he was excited about live on fire again while recording.
Or how his Christmas tree with Pokemon cards on it got stolen at a church in Australia haha… within 1 day of it going up.
I don’t know, it is a love hate relay…
But I think if it’s bad or good publicity, we are still talking about him. It helps build awareness for the hobby.
And at least it is fairly entertaining for people and children alike.
Yeah, I kind of agree with you, but you cannot stop much. lol. Here is a new youtuber that I came across that is doing some pokemon related stuff. You can tell this was her first video though. I hope she does some more in the future. I know her and she has a really nice collection that is worth sharing.
As someone already mentioned, I’ll stick to the History Channel version of Pokemon News (smpratte). It’s solid, entertaining, and informational. The heartsquad and unlisted leaf…I think have good intentions but are obviously for kids…which is fine and long term, probably has a positive impact on the longevity of pokemon. I think it’s always important to note that Pokemon is bigger than any Youtuber and doesn’t need their content to support the hobby.
This is just personal, but I can’t stand listening to either one of them…and yet, sometimes I ADMIT when I’m bored I actually put them on usually when I’m at the gym and have run out of the History Channel content. It’s similar to when you’re scrolling through TV stations and then two hours later you just realized that you watched absolute garbage…and yet it was slightly entertaining and you don’t regret it.
Personally, I think that Youtube needs better Pokemon content for serious collectors. Besides smpratte, does anyone have good a good channel to share that isn’t just pack openings or nonsensical hype titled, “I BOUGHT EVERY BOOSTER PACK AT TARGET!!!” ?
I primarily use Smpratte and TCA Gaming for collectors side, and PTCGRadio for news and competitive info.
I wouldn’t rag on Leonheart too much. although he seems to overreact a bit during openings, he has made a solid effort to get factual information out there. I think his friendship with Gary has definitely helped with that, but he is at least attempting to educate the younger audiences whenever he discusses older sets.
