I’ve wondered so many times why they don’t go for more concincing font on these, the same font that is used here on “play online” text always is a clear giveaway of fake even if one didn’t know the layout of real box. I guess they sell well enough to not change anything but would feel like quite a simple change to make things look more authentic
I thinks it’s probably something more obvious to knowledgeable people and the masses aren’t very knowledgable. The target market are the uninformed and there’s obviously enough that fall into that category that the scammers don’t need to use much effort.
Last night saw a One Piece auction block which I think happens bi-monthly. Not sure if people would be interested, but some decent sales so thought I’d post. I don’t really know the sets etc so will just put the character names.
Some more obscure auction items for tonight. All auctioned in original, sealed packaging. Maybe @mrbubbles could shed some light as I’m not sure on the history but first time seeing these kind of items in auction.
First is the Pokemon Toyota Auto campaign. Basically this was a short but nationwide campaign on 1997, where you could get this pictured pamphlet on visiting any Toyota showroom and it contained Pikachu and Arcanine cards.
Second set is the Pokemon card Trainer Magazine. vol 1. It contains the Snap Pikachu artwork.
The last one is the Pikachu Records ‘Riding with Lapras’ song CD. I don’t think it has any card, but I am not sure.
Anecdotal but am beginning to see a lot more people trying to offload cards within WeChat groups and auction results consistently dropping lower for cards. Feels like less strength in the Chinese market for lower tier cards but again, I’m very new to this and could be way off.
