PWCC is getting super swamped with submissions from the 3Free promotion.
I spoke to them today asking about some delays in some things they were curating for me, and they said they are under stress from massive mail in submissions to the vault.
It’s curated on a first come first serve basis so I’d send it in sooner than later. Who knows when they’ll get things fully curated when the backlog starts to pile up even more within the next couple of days.
I wonder if it is that going twice company that bulk graded thousands of cards, condition seemed to be low on their list lol . I can only imagine their unsold piles for BGS
Yeah I didn’t realize how bad it was until scrolling through the preview… like 70 German Beckett water energies… I legit can’t believe PWCC accepted this bullshit lol. They will be hard to take seriously if this becomes a regular thing. Interesting thing to note is that the last block had $9.99 starting bid for cards. I wonder how much of this junk will get 0 bids and if that will get PWCC to vet their submissions. Seriously, a BGS 7.5 German water energy… like…
Edit maybe a bit harsh with the “hard to take seriously” part but honestly this should not be on their auction
What really blew my mind was not only the $50 minimum, but it being an average.
I sent in a couple 5 figure cards which are obviously the kinds of things they want to get in house, but for every $10k card one sends you can literally send 200 slabs regardless of what is inside them. It’s hard to find too many cards not worth $50 these days, but this program is just encouraging people to offload junk to get free labor and free warehousing from PWCC.
I think with this promo they will succeed with their goal of getting likely tens to hundreds of millions of new dollars of assets in house but they may well get 100,000 or more junk slabs to go along with it too and I’m fairly certain they’ll look back and regret the low requirements they set.
Considering the boxes all contain 52 guaranteed cards and the cards are wrapped to prevent damage, it continues to amaze me how much people are willing to pay for these graded playing cards. Boxes themselves have jumped from $5 to $250+ in the past 1.5 years.
Yep, they’re certainly old pieces of Pokémon merchandise. I believe the Blastoise deck was released around late 1997/early 1998. They still make new Pokémon playing card sets today, too. I think what people fail to realise with these though is that there is a continuous steady supply of them. They were distributed to stores in cases of 100 and every now and then a case shows up for sale, too.
Is “poker set” an American thing? I don’t think they’re called that anywhere in Japan and to me in the UK they’re just “playing cards” - certainly not poker-specific.
Perhaps American thing, but yes 52/53 with Joker can be referred to as a deck of Poker cards. Especially in the context of Pokemon cards it gets confusing to say playing cards instead of poker cards.
If someone is interested in a poker set from December 1996 there is also this lovely alternative (yes I’m sharing my own thread lol):
