There are over 2,000 German cards this month. almost all 1st Ed Base BGS graded. The vast majority are likely submitted by the same person or two people. I don’t blame them for using this system, but I am baffled that PWCC gave this the green light. They should consider putting a cap on the number of subs by one person.
The issue with quantity like this is you can’t just ignore cards you aren’t interested in. There are only 3 hours per auction evening, always 6-9 PM western time. So these German cards basically pushed everyone else’s cards into Round 2 and minimized the time per bid of everything else.
I don’t think it was 2000 bad but the last block had an ungodly amount of foreign Base commons too. More time than I need for a mid-auction bathroom break.
I see some of the listings have “Critical Investment Piece” as their tagline. I’m not sure why this one doesn’t have it: www.pwccmarketplace.com/items/2658253.
This is going to only get worse later in the year when all the 3free bulk getting pushed to auctions. All my stuff (20 cards) looks like it got bumped to round 2. Wonder if I can just hold for another auction. Not a great idea though probably given what I mentioned about the 3free.
There were about 300 of these in the last auction block. I wonder if the assumed submitter was using that as a trial run for dumping many cards of the same type at once. It will also be interesting to see what type of precedent this sets if the ending prices are at least half decent.
It seems like a fairly efficient model to grade the same cards en masse and then sell them the same way, all with very little time/effort on the part of the submitter.
@gengarguy yes it’s an efficient model already in use by many. But there is a difference between someone’s bulk sub of 200 miscellaneous cards from multiple eras vs FOUR HUNDRED GERMAN BASIC ENERGIES. Lmao. No one looks at a hundred modern Charizards at the tail end of a block and thinks darn it could hurt their listing. However you only need a handful of people to decide Heritage over PWCC for middle tier cards because they fear an hour of energies will dampen enthusiasm and interest, for the fee revenues on all those energies to be a pyrrhic gain.
I’d certainly like to see some categories created so we can sort through the listings either. Starting with language and then either a narrower category like set or even psa grade. I don’t know what the answer is but I definitely get bored of scrolling after so long. Just too much to sift through for me lol
