The Mandalorian (Disney +)

I’m surprised there isn’t a thread on this yet. Anyone here been watching this?

IMO probably the best Star Wars thing since Return of the Jedi, despite its short episodes.

It’s been absolutely fantastic. My favorite thing Star Wars Since episode 3. Rogue one was also very good.

Absolutely love the show. Episode 2 is a little slow but overall it’s a solid spin off. Can’t wait for the Obi wan show next year

I’m a big fan! I love the memes. I’m not someone who’s on board with all of Disney’s Star Wars, but this and Rogue One have been fantastic.

Caught the first two episodes and watching the 3rd tomorrow. I absolutely love it so far. Really interested to see what they do with the lore for Yoda (or his species) and the mandalorian themselves which have always been my favorite race in star wars.

So I was a hardcore Boba Fett fan back in the day. I was originally excited to hear they were doing a series on Boba Fett or a standalone movie when Disney obtained Lukas Films so I was understandably disheartened to hear it was scrapped.

Despite that, I was originally optimistic about the series coming out and was excited - looking at links and even found a video recording of a prescreening of the first episode months before it was released. However, there are certain characteristics of the series that made me feel neutral towards it. His weird sudden decision to chase Jawas and go guns ablazing seemed uncharacteristic of him and seemed like a bad ruse for comedy - 2nd episode left a sour taste in my mouth.

There are some good highlights whereas there are some more “campy” moments that I’m meh towards but they remind me of other Space Westerns like Firefly for that reason, so I can forgive those points. I always give a new series 3 episodes to see if it sucks me in or not so I waited to see the next episode as I was unsure of what direction they would take it in.

After the 3rd episode, however, I’m hooked. Looking forward what happens next.

Do you think boba fett will make an appearance at some point? I was really looking forward to his standalone movie as well and would like to see some of his lore make it on screen.

When he chased the Jawa’s - he didn’t really have a choice. He was on a planet that he couldn’t escape from if he didn’t have the parts to his ship that they stole. And at that point he is responsible for himself and the little one so it didn’t seem to me like a ruse for comedy, to me anyway…

Side note: I love the show so far and everything about it.

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT CAUGHT UP WITH IT!

The man blamed an IG droid for not going in stealthy and then neutralized it for trying kill the quarry. Then took his walk carefully to ensure it’s safety and stopped some Trandoshans from killing it. He has shown nothing but careful calculation up until the point where Jawas are destroying his ship and then suddenly RISKS leaving his quarry behind and/or open just to chase Jawas which, as the conversation later with the settler proves, he is FULLY AWARE OF. I know the pod was set to automatically follow him but he left his quarry fully exposed. I would have expected him to at least close the pod at the very least.

I understand why he chased after the Jawas, but if he was aware of them and what they do, he would have had better luck walking up to them instead of going in guns ablazing.
