Pretty much explains everything you need to know about grading. Such a joke. The charizard is a mint pack fresh card. That getting an 8 is a joke and PSA hasn’t known what they are doing in years
Congratulations on the grades. All beautiful cards! Thanks for sharing.
Cheers!
did you get grader notes on the charizard?
edit: nvm saw the back edges. amazing centering though thats a psa10 front for sure! congrats
After a few months of waiting, I finally have another batch of PSA grades for my temporary English ultra modern grading endeavor. I did well enough and hit 10’s on 30/46 submitted cards. That 65% success rate is a bit higher than the 60% I had been hitting the previous few modern submissions, so hopefully that continues to improve.
My goal is to be able to consider 75% of my purchases gradeable, and that 75% of graded cards get a 10. In a few months I’ll share the data related to all of my submissions and how I ultimately did.
Now, some highlights:
This copy is so damn clean that I considered sending it to Beckett for the black label lottery. What stopped me was that L to R centering was 51/49-52/48. I think I’ll still hold onto it since it’s such a great card.
Something I’ve found is that the average condition of this card is pretty terrible, and in 4 months of looking nearly daily, I’ve only purchased 2 copies (1 of which was a no go for grading). So I’m very happy that this managed to get a 10.
This is another card that I’ve found to on average not be in great condition, but I managed to go 4/4 on 10’s in this submission.
The notes actually only say scratching on the holo, which I don’t see at all. The notes don’t even say anything about the back or edges ![]()
@brendantheclayboy it is a little frustrating. This specific card I graded solely to resell so I’m tempted to crack it and either resubmit or send it to CGC, still trying to decide ![]()
Did you see the centering and the back whitening
Centering on the front shouldn’t be what brings the grade down, especially compared to other PSA 9 and 10 examples with the exact same centering (yes, I know they have gotten more strict with that). The back centering isn’t great but it’s better than 75/25.
Dude you’ve been in this hobby for as long as I have or close enough.
I don’t understand how you don’t know wotc backs. It’s pack fresh. There’s no damage there. That’s factory cut, not wear.
For forever that card is an easy 9, and since when on this earth did back centering matter for shit?
No one be gaslit into thinking a pack fresh wotc card in mint condition like this isn’t mint. My god.
Edit oh wait you’re talking about front centering. Lmao. Simply lmao.
Idk man i have no opinion on regrades. Best of luck to you and my sympathy that it’s for sale. Cause then you have incentive to regrade and give them more money for that crap. Can’t tell you how many 9’s i bought during my time of buying graded cards that have dozens of scratches.
Don’t be gaslit. This company and all these companies have no idea what true condition is. Significantly too much 7-8 when it’s mint.
I’m not saying it shouldn’t be a 9. I think that PSA is very harsh on vintage English nowadays. This isn’t 2017 anymore. The centering drops it down a grade. The notes (does PSA even do notes?) mention holo scratches, so we can’t tell by the photos. There is some whitening on the edges as well.
It feels like mint WOTC gets 8s way more nowadays and it’s frustrating. This one could easily be a 9 and probably would’ve before but whether or not you like it, grading standards are more strict on the vintage side. And don’t get me started on charizards lol those get looked at even harsher
If PSA continues to look at vintage the same way they look at modern, then this will continue to happen
The Mew is very OC so I would imagine it’s that.
Happy with this return ![]()
All dutch unlimited fossil is pop 1 with none graded higher/lower except kabutops, it had one lower graded in the pop report ![]()
I’ve had my first graded cards come back yesterday and got some of them on display!
Some of the card did come back lower than expected (apart from victini I’m actually surprised with that grade!), but they look really good even if their not perfect.
I’m really happy with how they look but which side do you prefer? I’m not quite sure if I prefer one style over another, maybe having a it a symmetrical is nice.
