I don’t really think it flew under the radar as much as the multiple reprints the art had hurt the desirability. Actually surprised by the price. A trophy from the same era that did fly under the radar would be the lucky stadium imo.
my only hesitation with kanazawa is that it was printed in both holo (more common) and reverse holo (from the box) form. I think it will be good, but be comparable to some of the other pikachu promos that tend to go for $400-$500 down the road. swallowed pikachu would be another in that category.
The ones I would be look at on the recent side that I expect to do really well are Alola friends / Pikachu from the limited collection master battle set.
I would assume they missed it in a haste to bid and going off the sellers condition rating of “unused”, but it’s clear as day in the pictures and also in personal pictures received. Both pictures show the same damage on the same corner.
Yeah the pics were terrible and they didn’t describe the indent at all. Being that the last one was in PSA 1 condition went for $7k this doesn’t surprise me. Probably a PSA 7 if graded or a BGS 8 + with how lax they are over indents at BGS
Topsun zard stonking so hard. Giving me FOMO… time to buy some topsun. Artwork is just so good, I think the second anyone discovers it they instantly want one
(oh yeah and that huge no number rarity auction prob driving the price up a bit too )
I have watched literally every single PSA 10 munch Pikachu auction/listing for the last year or so. Recently, they are consistently selling for $2k. One just sold for $2,450 BIN. There is a PWCC auction right now for one @ $1,975 with 8 days left. The last couple days, there was about 6 BIN for around $2,200 - $2,300. Now there is one left for $3k, and other remaining sitting at redic $5k+.
Most of these auctions are super active too, with a bunch of watchers.
I don’t think people give credit to PWCC as much as they should for the record prices it can bring in. Obviously not every card, but for people who use PWCC and get account credit they may be willing to pay more because it isn’t coming out of their bank account or the simple fact that PWCC is so trustworthy and simple to use. It’s impressive the new realized prices that PWCC brings on popular cards.
There’s the chance the Espeon hasn’t been paid for. Not all these auctions get paid. The price definitely seems wild for a dented copy. If this sale is legit Espeon might be worth more than actual new back trophies with unique art. Crazy to think what the Umbreon could go for.
