日本のマーケット部分 The Giant Japanese Market Thread

Personally wait till after the box break, as while it probably won’t be as significant as last time, we still might see price changes

It wouldn’t hurt to wait another month or two to see if the market yet again rises, it would be unlikely for the price to go down

Imo those packs aren’t even close to a value I would sell any at. The original set, apart from maybe short crimp packs the first tcg booster, and it’s like what, double to triple a cp6 reprint pack?

I typed this and didn’t even realize you said heavy, that’s just another nope from me

Thanks a ton guys! I just pulled the listing and relisted it at a very high price to wait and see. I feel like I would’ve regretted that sale very soon!

I don’t understand why the MBS is so popular. It is no where close to the TR set in terms of rarity or coolness of the box/cards. It’s actually more similar to a poncho box. Right now it’s the same price as Mario pikachu box, which I would rather have instead.

On a related note do you (or anyone else) happen to know the lowest weight that contains a holo? I have a couple 16.55g packs. IME most light packs are < 16.3g, but I know there can be a lot of variance with JP base.

That was my initial line of thinking as well, but compared to the stuff I’m interested in, I think the heavy Base pack will see more growth. As much as I don’t like to think of collecting as ‘investing’, IMO they are literally the ‘blue chip’ stocks of Pokemon and are in for a rise, especially after LP’s box break. We’ll see how it turns out, but for now I’m definitely not unhappy to still own my booster

Hey guys, I have another question: Where do you buy cheap (few cents worth) modern Japanese C/UC singles?

I’m looking to finally pursue my collection goal of a Kusube and Komiya binder and would prefer those cards to be in Japanese and also to buy as many as possible at once from one store to save shipping costs.
Note that I’m in Germany, but cardmarket.eu doesn’t sell anything Japanese, T&T also doesn’t have most of them in JPN and TCGplayer is a big hassle for non-American buyers.

Have you tried tcgrepublic.com

Just looked into it and they have a nice selection, but they seem fairly expensive to me. Like, a common Volt Tackle/ Vivid Voltage Beldum is 0.03 USD on cardmarket.eu in English, but 3.13 USD on tcgrepublic.com in Japanese.
Or did Japanese singles really just become that much more expensive? (10000% as expensive haha)

In my experience the have good prices on wotc holos and ex cards but I’ve never really tried buying c/uc from them

@muk, Have you tried Mercari Japan with some middle-man services?

I hope this can be interesting for you : www.mercari.com/jp/items/m74755628429/

Thank you, that looks pretty promising!

Few mario/Luigi boxes being auctioned at pwcc already at $2k each with 9 days left looks like this might push up demand and prices.

yeah i’ve seen that, this is mad, a lot of other japanese cards are also being auctioned, they timed the end of those auctions with pokemon day , i think this will tell a lot of the evolution of prices in the next weeks, months.

if people can bring their expertise here, that would lead to a good discussion

Half of me thinks they will keep on rising but the other half thinks that there must be a seller with a load of these boxes releasing them to the market slowly.
I wish I bought more when I had the chance…

Those two thoughts can be true at the same time.

Hard to judge the market tbf. If I was in the hobby in 2016 I know I would have bought a fair few…the artwork of the box alone is a winner
I wish we get a decent collab this year Pikachu/Link or Pikachu…something

Mimikyu munch going for over £2k in PSA 10 with bids still going on…nuts

Welp <.< on the Mimikyu.

I promise my fiancée I wouldn’t buy anything this year (Pokemon cards), super focus on the wedding & buying my dream watch next year. I still have plans to pick up a PSA 10 copy mid next year. I even budget for a slight price increase. But we’re also planning on going to Japan for our honey moon in 2022; going take a stab at finding a minty raw over there.
