Well, there is literally 0 incentive to go more easy on vintage. Not one good reason but plenty reasons to remain strict or get stricter, financially speaking that is.
Besides we are talking about cards with a population of 10 to 200, even if they went a tad bit easier (again, why?) That wouldn’t change anything. The supply is simply way too low, that creates a constant crunch which is why we get daily record sales.
I get my sealed graded. A fresh brown box with that mint tape and BSA (Box) 10 label, nothing better.
People like 10s on label
Company gives more 10s on label
People submit more cards to company for 10s on label
Company makes more money
They could see the very obvious and building backlash for their overly strict grading perception. If people on e4 are noticing and commenting it means the entire market has become so saturated with this feeling that it’s getting to or is a real problem.
There are very real futures where PSA isn’t the top dog. They don’t get to just do whatever they want forever

Again, do you realise how low the supply of vintage cards is? We are talking about literal peanuts, cents, in the grand scheme of things they would make from grading a few more vintage 10s for a couple dollars while destroying their prestige. That makes zero sense
If anything it makes more sense for modern because of the bulk of it and its already the case that they are easier on grading modern vs vintage because of the reasons I mentioned

Besides, the opposite effect would happen. People like 10s precisely because they are so hard to have. If they gave out more 10s easier it would dilute the prestige and also the market value of 10s which would destroy their profits longterm

If everyone sent out their broken condition binder copies of their 1st edition charizard to psa and psa decided to grade all of them a 10
What would happen next after everyone dumped their 10 on the open market and sent the price crashing down?
Would everyone keep sending to psa or would they move over to cgc and beckett which still has the value of the 10 intact
I am exaggerating to make a point but thats basically the concept of supply and demand and that would eventually happen if they graded more easy on vintage
Anyone who collected cards before 1996/1999 Pokemon advent used and knew the word, Rookie. Anyone who collected cards prior to 1996/1999 “came from Sports.” Do you not get that? The fact this is so foreign and perhaps offensive to you has more to do with your inexperience and desire to feel superior than some misstep on my part.
Oh for sure I was being a lil tongue in cheek. I generally agree but the question is up to what era, long term. The problem is the factors which lead to vintage/mid era sealed having value and modern sealed having value are not the same. The biggest issue being supply. What era do you believe the “cut off” is? Would you be comfortable holding $$$$$$ in swsh or scarlet?

You’re presenting a very extreme example. Loosening expectations does not mean that all cards submitted will get a 10.
Secondary market prices do indeed indirectly benefit PSA, but you’re making an assumption that lowering of secondary market prices, or PSA’s “prestige” would result in a greater revenue loss than potential revenue gains from people getting excited about submitting more because they have a better chance at getting a 10 on their card. Nobody knows how that equation is going to change over time.
I understand that changing a PSA 10 pop of a card from 20 to 200 or something might not make an impact for some cards, but I don’t think it’s fair to assume that would be the case for all. There are a lot of vintage pokemon cards and sets out there, and those pop increases add up across all cards! It’s like the Creatures Deck. There are only 400ish decks out there, but with how many cards there are in each deck, they are still relatively accessible.
We disagree on some base assumptions, and that’s fine. We’re all entitled to our opinions!
