To be fair, its a world championship ship deck card and not THE card

isn’t that card less than 100 bucks raw? why the need for signature requirement

I don’t think it’s totally unfair to ask for a $600 purchase. Maybe a compromise would be providing pictures for any that might be considered in worse condition than advertised or the rest of the lot. In other words, any that might be a surprise to the buyer.

From the thumbnail those appear to be in a binder, I think it’s fair to include photos of the backside of the page so people can get a better sense of the condition. Particularly on a >$500 purchase.

That said, people who send messages like this then immediately ask if the price is negotiable are not generally going to offer you anything close to asking so it would be wasted effort in that sense.

Signed for postage in the uk is very cheap ans is basically a cheaper alternative with proof of delivery than tracked. Without proof of delivery you can be scammed by literally anyone by them saying it didnt arrive.

I think your correct that it’s not unreasonable to ask but I also think it’s not unreasonable to reject the request. And ultimately the seller has the final say here.

small bag of trash, but one none the less. It’s an error because it’s bootleg:
For newer collectors or people who are curious. There may be more but these are the ones that jumped at me first.

Not your normal eBay garbage, but this card just arrived and it and everything else in the package reek so bad of cigarette that it felt like my nostrils were burning .

I have complained about damaged items in the past because they were so smoky. Smoke damage IS damage.

This question made me laugh. A new buyer with 1 feedback trying to lowball for my 1st edition Base pack. Can’t read my ad, knows nothing about the hobby, etc.

I’m always really glad I only sell online, because I would not have patience to deal with these people in real life.

I’m actually quite curious how you would ā€œfixā€ this. Leave in coffee grounds or something similar to remove the smell?

I remember an Alpha Investments video where he bought a collection that had been in a smokers home. He put the smoked cards in between fresh bulk cards and said that it eventually got rid of the smell.

Letting them air out can help a bit, but for something this stinky, it’ll probably always have some level of smell to it.

I’ve dealt with cards similarly stinky before, and luckily PSA does not appear to downgrade a card for smell, and once it’s in the PSA slab, you can’t smell it at all anymore. So it’ll be okay in the end.

You grade it, now the smell is contained.

I am starting to wonder if some of these are in fact, AI bots because they are so dumb.

I used to put them in a closed container with baking soda. It worked well. @cwebfan23 The problem with sealing it is that smoke-saturated cards and things continue to react with the chemicals they’ve absorbed over time. It can cause the item or maybe the slab it’s sealed in to yellow or brown over time. I think it’s because of the acid in the cigarette waste/smoke, like a cellophane stain from non-acid-free packaging.

Good to know! Do you have any photos of any slabs that have stained yellow or brown over time?

It’s just a theory, but lemme see if I have some old smokey cards… I mean, we’re talking 10+ years, maybe? I know my grandpa’s old air force stuff was stained and rank.

edit My smoked cards still smell slightly, but there’s no discoloration to the sleeves. Maybe acid-free plastic won’t discolor? Or maybe 8 ish years isn’t long enough or there’s not enough smoke… Cigarette smoke is certainly caustic however…
