The Giant eBay Garbage Thread

I’d just reply and say yes.

The new wave of “investors” think that if the ETB has a tear or any sort of damage on the packaging it’s worthless. Selling any sealed to these is a PITA.

It’s not like a decent % of sealed product comes “damaged” straight from factory cases, right?

I wonder how long it will be until PSA grade ETBs in Shrink Wrap. Maybe their new 4 criteria could be Wrinkles, Holes, Transparency and Roughness.

“LP” condition…still with 3 of its original corners! That’s like 75% which is good, right?

When I first got back into collecting, I still thought like a child. Never played meant you never played the TCG with it, only just resorted in your binder a handful of times. So assuming this seller is a newb, probably thinks they barely played with it, thus lightly played.

I often forget that very few people are as knowledgeable as you expect

At what point does ebay’s reputation start to suffer? I guess “ebay Auth” is their silver bullet, but… :face_exhaling:

the secret is that if ebay cleaned up the website of fakes, reproductions, and scams, they’d lose a lot of money. This is why they don’t do anything, and it is why they have such an aggresively pro-buyer stance, to keep the pressure off the amount of money they make on the majority of bad actors who get away with it and ebay gets their cut. I stopped trying a decade ago with videogames.

And giant internet-based companies are so big today that unless you cater to privacy, or security specifically, reputation is practically limitless. Plus, our 200,000 yo brains value convenience and laziness above all else most of the time, so reputation is merely a word. Tho that is slowly changing… Far too slowly tho.

Philosophical question: At what point does a card become literal garbage?

I once saw a gold star ray almost this bad. Guy wanted 80$ for it, back in 2019 or 18… Can’t say it was outrageous. I didn’t want it that bad…

Looks like they got themselves banned…

I’m genuinely curious if ebay is a fair representation of the high percentage of mentally damaged people in the world, or if it’s skewed because they can just open a new account…

Perhaps Twitter is a better representation…

What is the implication of this message? That I am not allowed to adjust prices as listings come up and sales occur? :face_with_bags_under_eyes:

This is the same person who will quote comps in an attempt to get you to meet their offer. Not a problem when they do it of course, but it is for the seller

@surfnsnow

This kind of behaviour is one of few things that really pisses me off overall.

Way too many times someone has contacted me via email/E4 and asked to open Instagram, Whatsapp etc. so they can throw DM, like wtf how does it differentiate from what they’re already doing.
