They probably won’t be re-printed as long as the previous pikas. In fact, the guy who helped get the new illustrations wanted to do new ones every year. Either way, you had 3 copies per year of the old pikas (a couple years for vcg towards the end). The amount that were actually printed over the 10 tournaments is still ridiculously low, probably under 50 in total.
These are the first tournament they released the new artwork. The first of something usually earns more (97 pikas, 2004 pikas). Also, it is going to be very difficult getting a PSA 10 on the cards, which adds another layer.
Just keep in mind that they are giving out the FA pikachus to the VGC players too. So if they change the artworks again in 5 years there would be the same amount as the old pikachus in existence (not exactly but roughly).
And I guess it’s not cheap for them to make new trophy cards every 1 or 2 years, although it would be cool IMO.
