It’s just the much older case style. I sent in a bunch of cards to be reholdered just recently because these old cases are very thin and weren’t made for Pokemon cards (as can be ascertained by the large space around the card and the holder’s edge).
Oh yeh I’m an idiot I have one of those old cases:P. I think its bit odd to have that serial number with an old case no? My old case card has serial 04xxxxxx and this is 30xxxxxx Edit: I feel like a conspiracy theorist now >_< thanks @xuzu
So how do PSA serial numbers work, I thought it was in order of cards being graded.
And there haven’t even been 30 million to date, so I must be incorrect…
Most likely because after that first one sold for 2600 a couple weeks ago, about 6 surfaced for auction within the same week. Market self-correction at its finest.
From what I know that’s generally the case but there’s pockets of numbers that have been/are designated to certain things i.e. (not correct but for the sake of demonstration) the 15-20 millions are for baseball cards, the 20-28 millions for Pokemon cards and so on. I’m assuming the 30mils was one of those pockets for Pokemon Cards at a brief time, very early on.
It’s understandable the Khan wouldn’t be in the same league as the Big 3, however how does it compare to say the Neo Battle Road trophies (2000,2001,2002), or perhaps the 2004 and full arts? I would think it would sit higher than the full arts, at least to some, however perhaps it might sit lower than the Battle Roads or the 2004?
To give you a rough idea: there were 1000 copies of the University Magikarp given out. Judging from my 10 year experience in trophy card collecting I would put the number of trophy khans at 300-500 copies. Note: this is just a completely free number I put here. There is no documentation for the number of copies of trophy khans as far as we know. Do not quote my number as fact.
However it should give you a good impression how it‘s rarity compares to other trophy cards.
This is probably obvious, but intended distribution numbers are basically negligible for this card. Even with the documentation we have for the University Magikarp, the amount that have hit the market is nowhere near 1,000.
2 near mint copies put up at 150$ each. tempted to buy one myself v-v but I already have a copy of the card and Xmas is around the corner so I should be using that dosh for gifts
and gone. saw that coming quickly. hope I helped some people here get them
Seller is auctioning cards that once belonged to JamesdWills, he is also from Cardiff too. If you’re a part of the IG community, you should know that the James guy is the one that sold inked cards.
On a side note, a raw gem mint(not really) 1st edition base set Charizard is up for auction. I asked for some pictures for the back right edge of the card and there is a mini crease there. Sucks for those who bid over $1500 for it
