The Giant Deal Thread

The problem with that slippery slope logic, or lack thereof, is that you can generally apply that to anything that is not an absolute necessity.

There are plenty of cards that consistently sell in that range, which is not that ludicrous.

i never thought i would go after trophy cards to be honest but InThe last month that has changed. I will have 2 by the end of next month in my hands. U can get them it just takes patience saving more saving and more saving and very nice people who let u pay in payments.

Yes
this is true.
Some people would say if you spent 20.00 on a Pokemon card that it was insane. Is it actually absurd? Of course not. It’s all perspective.
I had a friend/customer here in town today who I picked up at the airport and he spent 18,000.00usd cash on Pokemon and he actually apologized that that was all his wife would let him spend lol.
Perspective for sure:)

I think that when you consider they’re pieces of cardboard that won’t get you anything other than the satisfaction of owning them (and props from other collectors), it is a bit silly dropping that many Benjamins on one card. Even if you have endless amounts of cash
But everyone is free to use their money however they want, and if they want to spend big, it’s fine

I was waiting for that good old reductionist argument: “they are pieces of cardboard”.

What is going on with pokemon is nothing new; trading an item for money, or more simply put: trading cardboard for paper. Certain “cardboard” is worth more paper than others. The more of certain cardboard I buy, the more paper I can acquire.

It is one thing to have a personal feeling towards what you are comfortable spending, but another to try and trivialize a market because of that personal feeling.

Bruh, u know I’m rite doe

Lol, jk. Like I said, it’s OK to spend how you want to spend, I was just trying to (guess?) what might’ve been the reason why the others thought it was ludicrous. Maybe I was wayy off, maybe not?

Wasn’t trying to annoy anyone, maybe I should’ve snoozed a bit before reading over again in the morning with a fresh mind :stuck_out_tongue:

www.ebay.com/itm/Pokemon-Roaring-Skies-Mega-M-Rayquaza-EX-61-108-/361311679252?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item541fdab314

can anyone please explain to me why u would pay over a &100 for a card that will be produced in the millions?

probably shill bidding going on there. look at the bid history and the users with zero feedback

what is bad is now everybody is going to want that amount or more when the set comes out. The prices on the rayquazas in this set are going to skyrocket watch. I don’t really care honestly I have a extremely small number of English cards on my wants list and none of them come from a booster box.

Because it’s a piece of cardboard from the cardboardtraders.

yes but the cardboard u and I like atleast have less then 1000 copies and in most cases under 100 so high prices can be justified.

I thought it was quite a coincidence that the seller’s name is cardboardtraders and cardboard was being discussed on the thread. Yes, some cardboards are more “valuable” than others.
