The Giant Art Thread

It’s from the Pokemon concept art “Capsule Monsters”:

Here’s a bulbapedia article showing some of the concept artwork. Gamefreak considered buying/selling your pokemon to shops, an interesting idea but glad they scrapped it

It would make more sense compared to sending it to your professor through a computer though :stuck_out_tongue:

Okay, okay, okay…I think it’s finally time I start a Komiya binder. It’s to the point that Komiya is making me feel things I didn’t expect, and see things I didn’t know I needed to see. A journey through the mind of Komiya from career start to now is warranted.

My dad introduced me to Frank Zappa as a kid. The first time I saw the album art for Cheap Thrills (album art by Calvin “Cal” Schenkel) while listening to Zomby Woof, I was absolutely captivated. Every time I left and came back to the cover, I would see and feel something different. The distortion, the chaos, the colors, just blew my mind. Komiya hits me the same exact way, and also delivers a blend of musical nostalgia along with art that I didn’t think possible. Crazy.

I was not a big komiya fan, BUT once I did my komiya binder, I think that it may be my favorite thing. It doesn’t have the nostalgia that my Arita binder does (I’ve been working on that my whole collecting life, but I might like the artist spirit in the Komiya binder better.).

Is it just me or does the Arctibax surroundings look like the anatomy of skin?

I wouldn’t expect anything less from you than to draw an allusion to Zappa in the frame of Komiya.

While floating down the rivers of Komiya time I often feel I am reminiscing in the zappa vehicle. I wonder if Komiya has ever heard Zappa? Surely.

Here’s two for you that I feel are perfect getting lost in their works (and excellent name drop because the first happens to suit just this fancy with the cover)

Wish I could like this post 500 times. 2 min mark of Inca Roads hits deep. Zoot Allures just has that classic captive feel. Dayum

Stefanie Spaziani - Comic book artist. Great link to his page which shows the progression in drawing from scratch to the final product.

The arita abra chain is making me cry… or maybe it’s the massive headache I have. Either way, it’s something I’ve wanted for a LONG time!

edit: I honestly think, the PkMn 151 collection might be the first set I aim to complete in years.

I also noticed this Magikarp from SV. We’ve had a lineup of under-water cards lately, and this is a really fresh setting for cards, I think.

Stumbled upon these beauties by Suwama Chiaki. Its pretty rare to have a single artist do an entire evolution line, let alone twice!
