Does anyone know what painting technique Himeno used for these artworks? I would like to reproduce the art but I am not sure how to get the same texture for the background.
Beware The Pencil Man, once you decide to do an artist collection of his works the soul of your wallet will be at risk. The 6th person on my top 5 (yes, it gets weird like that) this man is physically unable to make bad stuff. Purity.
@martin , she did watercolor for those particular works. She used a special textured stock canvas paper, high quality. It’s nearly impossible to tell exactly which, as there are hundreds of kinds of paper, but with practice and using rough textured canvas paper, you can get a similar look. But that look is created by a certain delicate stroke and spread (god is she a master) and consistency over this canvas paper. She varied the dilution to accommodate lighting or lens/subject flare and such. And she didn’t rely on a lot of water for spill. She created just the right mix on a fine hair brush and did her magic. That’s the thing about great artists… they create their own technique
Thanks for the info, Brendan! Super helpful. I did not realize that the canvas itself makes such a huge difference in the texture but now when I think about it, it makes complete sense
