Technical bug reports/issues thread

I noticed something similar when replying in that post. When I tried to tag them, I noticed that even with the ‘@’ it was simply normal text. So, I backspaced, and tried again. I assumed I had miss-typed, but now I wonder. I will keep an eye out in case it’s something I am doing.

Another Q, @pfm , As I’m uploading new collection photos, I’m always conscious of file size. Are you still auto down-sizing large images to store them on E4 servers? Should I/we compress them more if we can?

The compression algorithm built into the site is pretty solid. Definitely images and storage are the largest financial component of running the site but it’s pretty necessary in such a visual hobby

Having a hard time uploading photos. I try 12 at a time. The last 2 or 3 fail upload. Try to upload one at a time (of the ones that failed) and it takes 3 attempts before it goes through. Then I get kicked out for low memory?

What was the size of each image? I was able to replicate and upload 12 images normally. I’m not sure what would be restricting it besides being too large. Here are the size limitations:

They are 4-6 MB each. I am doing it on mobile so it could be on my end

I’ve had a similar issue on mobile, my only workaround was to limit uploads to like 4-5 photos, upload, then edit the post and add more

I don’t know if this makes a difference but I use the app for mobile:

That’s kinda dope Scott thanks

It’s VERY dope.

I’d had multiple image uploads fail in the past. I switched to using lower res. 1440 Usually I’ll upload on at a time, and be very kind and patient to the servers.
Perhaps they are dodecaphobic?

It seems as though the Unread section only works for threads that I have never clicked on. Is it possible to create a section for threads with unread posts that you have previously engaged with? Otherwise, I have to manually scroll down until I see a bolded thread and then click on it. Maybe I am doing something wrong and there is an easier way?

Is that not what PARTICIPATED is?

No. There are threads on the homepage that I have previously clicked on and now have new posts, but they don’t show up on the PARTICIPATED section.

Hmm I don’t know if I understand the problem.

This is not the behaviour for me. I see this thread at the top of Unread even though I voted in it:

There are threads with posts that I still need to read, but this is what I see on the Unread section.

I think it’s because of your tracking preferences.

You have it set so you only track a thread if you visited it for longer than 5 minutes. If you change it to “immediately”, then it should fix your issue

I will try that. Thank you so much, pfm!

the 5 minute thing seems like it does hinder engagement a bit by making threads fall off quickly. But it’s the default. I think it works better on forums with extremely high volume or many off-topic posts.

I might change the default, what do people think?

not sure if it’s a technical issue, BUT Now that I’ve seen it’s happening to others…

This

is appearing whenever I try to upload an image this week. It’s added below the image, which appears to upload and display inline just fine.
I wonder if it indicates something. Worth a ticket, I thought.

Yeah I think the Discourse developers messed around a but with image uploading, hopefully they will fix the bugs they left behind
