So recently I sold some cards, one was in my possession, two were at my gf’s house.
Gave the one to her, so she could ship it with the others two.
She took some pictures before they were shipped, and they are nice and clean. She put two cards in one sleeve, and then in a card saver the other in a top loader.
Now the seller is telling me the two are damaged and bent. Any advice?
This is my second international sale, the guy didn’t want insurance and paid with PayPal G&S.
G&S is the buyer’s insurance. Shipping insurance is there to protect you, not the buyer, since they’d be able to get their money back from you/paypal if anything goes wrong.
Ask them to send pics/proof that it’s the same card you shipped. Though if you just mailed a loose card saver in a bubble mailer, it’s very likely they are telling the truth.
I offered him back the money for the other two in a lesser state, so he can ship them back.
He gets to keep one that was good.
My very first sale on eBay the buyer claimed the card never arrived and I was forced to eat the cost. The buyer in this case asked me to ship using a cheaper shipping option as well.
After that I will never reduce shipping at the buyers request.
I think it’s a live and learn moment. Perhaps it was the shipping companies fault; however, I don’t believe there is anything to be done.
I’m new here and came across site as I was browsing the horror stories of selling cards…
…the COVID stuff made me dig out my old WoTC collections which look to be worth a bit but the reality is I’d be too scared to sell for fear of scam.
Happy to have joined elite four-um. My nostalgia is off the charts.
If you have any real heavy hitters look into grading them through the forum grading service, Ludkins Collectables run by our own @funmonkey54. Then from there an easy and safe option to sell is consignment through PWCC. You can search the forum for both and read up on them. Welcome to the forum.
