Obviously, not one of the big chase cards here, and one of the most comically bad artworks I’ve ever seen (in the sort of way that circles back around to being amazing). But… Jynx and her design is obviously a more sensitive area outside of Japan, and even though she’s purple here, I could definitely see the potential of somebody finding this card (via the caricatured style, especially the lips)… questionable. I wouldn’t be surprised if it were translated no big deal and nobody cared, but I also wouldn’t be surprised if they just left this one in Japan.
The actual artwork seems fine to me. Jynx does have big lips. If we want to have a conversation about Jynx being an inappropriate and racist caricature of black women, then that’s a whole 'nother rabbit hole to jump down…
Just ordered four boxes. So stoked. I want to pull my own test tube Mewtwo because it’s one of my favorite artworks in the TCG. Hopefully I can get one within my first two boxes so I can sit on the others for a while. Woo!!
Alright guys-- UPDATE! A super exciting one, too. I was a bit too excited when these came in so I just grabbed the box that had the most “damage” (a few corners were dinged up) and I opened a bunch of packs up! I got the shining Jirachi on my first pack- and the card I wanted, test tube Mewtwo on my 17th! I still have three unopened packs from the box I’m figuring out what to do with, but now I can sit on the other boxes for a while like I wish I had done with Pokekyun last year. ^^ Such a good opening. I’m so excited. I love the artwork on the Mewtwo SO, so much. THANK YOU ARITA!! I will probably get it graded and hold onto it for a long time!
great pulls guys, this set has been super popular here in Japan, and around the world. Probably will rise quite quick in value the booster boxes. Compared to some of the other more recent sets.
The Korean Shining Legends Set has just been released. They come with the Japanese style packs with the shining Mew. I’ve seen fellow korean youtubers opening them up. So I can’t provide an official link for a source.
The Shining Legends collectors chest/big tin is on sale at Target for $12.49, believe these are normally $29.99 at Walmart. Includes 5 SL packs, 3 promos, pencils, stickers, coin, code, etc… AMAZING deal and probably the best you’ll find for Shining Legends.
