Selling high value items safely in 2024?

I am unfortunately having to sell my most expensive item in the next 6 months or so. I have sold ~$500 items before on eBay with no issues but this is a completely different price bracket. I especially need no problems with transaction as this is a forced sale and the funds are already earmarked.

Here are some possible constraints to inform the discussion:

  • Located in Europe so smaller buyer pool domestically and no access to consignment services such as PWCC.
  • Timeframe for sale is next 6 months or so, so no immediate rush to find buyer.
  • No longer have a social media presence so not a avenue to sell as a red flag if creating new account.

Conclusions (To be updated):

  • Determining market value on prize cards is not easy.
  • To take a multitude of clear pictures and timestamp.

Any thoughts and advice appreciated.

Does Europe have something similar to registered mail?

I got you fam! :briefcase:

Seriously though I process items like this monthly from all over the globe. If you want me to help feel free to send me a dm!

For pricing just a few suggestions from what I’ve seen.

  • Mercari Japan had one that sold recently at $2700, and with 15% off coupons probably closer to $2300. (there may be cheaper options but just a single reference)

  • A BGS 9.5 sold for $2700 on pwcc last night (7/28)

  • A PSA 9 is up for auction on Rare Candy.

Use @smpratte @gottaketchumall @jcincy101. It will be cheaper than selling yourself and no need to ship, worry about chargeback, etc and they will have insured inbound shipping (at least I know that for domestic)

I can help you out selling on PWCC or eBay if you want to ship within EU or get paid in EUR.
If you don’t care about that @smpratte is your best bet for the exposure alone!

This is a challenge I’ve been attempting to figure out myself recently. It’s unfortunate PWCC only offer insured shipping labels for domestic sellers. Sending multiple high value items from Europe feels like the greatest barrier. I have even considered flying to a US to submit in-person at a card show or something?!

Sorry this is not helpful to you!

Worldwide inbound insured shipping

Shame it’s not a 10! I still need one.

As above, for biggest reach something like PWCC is ideal. I sent to there from Europe and was pretty easy

@way2slowbro not trying to fanboy, but I’ve sold through Scott before and it’s seamless. If looking for the easiest + safest route, this is what I do.

What I just used is a service provided by “diegeodudes” on Instagram. They have a collaboration with PWCC but usually only for sending items to them to put them up for auction. What I just did was sending 2 more expensive cards via them to PWCC but only to transfer them to my vault. I costed me around 15€ handling fee per card but cards where insured up to 25000€. I used it for my pristine Umbreon night Battle trophy and a PSA 10 championship arena.
