I’ve never seen anyone complain about t17 personally, so when I watched the vid I was like “He must be exaggerating. No way the caricature crybabies like that exist.” And then I remembered what happened last week when someone tried to sell a pretty clean 1ed shining zard for 1.6k on a facebook group.

The lack a maturity is astonishing, it brings me physical pain.

Maybe it’s salt, maybe it’s common sense going away…t17 psa 9 reminds me of btc, also why is every single YouTube video now about t17? Hype much.

I don’t really have a problem with psa 10s going for 10k or more. But a psa 9 that costs as much as a psa 10 1st ed base holo or more? Errr

I’m going to call it here that prices will fall a few months from now when common sense reverts for this particular card

I don’t mind it going up btw, I own at least one copy of almost all the low wotc pop cards which should benefit from this hype (except t17 and yanma, hence the salt?), including those with lower pop than t17

I think the 8k was, but we have a confirmed sale for 2k. And both psa 8’s aren’t listed on eBay anymore either. So the price does seem to have gone up a bit

I think 1.2 is alright, kinda high but alright. I saw some posts on 2.5k…if it’s true, I just bought a psa 10 1st ed base set raichu for less than that so whoever paid 2.5k as an “investment” is in for some financial hurt / is buying the wrong stuff relative to the alternative cards available out there

I think that also speaks to the 1st Ed holos being undervalued. Probably because they are more available. T17 is super dry atm across the board, even ungraded.

Bingo - 1st ed base is undervalued. Always a pendulum - sales are being done under the radar for 1st ed base boxes now at 90k… those PSA 9 and 10s will be spiking some day once pendulum swings back.

1st ed base is probably undervalued tbh. I haven’t seen much growth on them in the last year or so. They are also almost always available. The t17 is quite scarce. Between the 8’s, 9’s, and 10’s there is only one available copy

Interesting times in the market. Definitely agree that 1st Edition Base Set is starting to look much better value given the rises we’re seeing across the hobby.

If I had to place a bet, I do think the T17 price will re-trace (esp. when considering the $2k sale). Prices don’t (and shouldn’t) move in straight lines so it’s conceivable we will see a price closer to $600-800 again soon, especially as this price rise flushes out sellers. Longer-term though, I don’t see any reason why this wouldn’t be consistently $1k+ in a few years, assuming the market continues to grow.

The only 8 available right now is listed at 2k. Doubtful the 9 will retrace to less than 1k when the only available 8 and 9 are listed for those prices

Slowking has already been mentioned but do people think a similar thing will happen to feraligatr 5 and meganium 10, psa 10 pops of just 15 and 18 respectively. Of course to a lesser degree than T17.

Buy them if you want them. Buy them if you think the likelihood and amount they’ll go up is worth the risk in trying to flip them for profit. Buy them if you want to try and make them go up. Don’t buy them if all those conditions fail.
