I personally hope that milotic remains the king of the ex era chase ex cards. I guess it does not need to be the absolute lowest pop for that to be the case since I imagine a good amount of the 18 copies are sitting in substantial collections where the owner had to pay top dollar and is therefore not gonna appear on the market soon. Not sure where all the new 10s (not to overstate a relatively low actual number increase) came from recently since there were definately not many emerald breaks (TCA was the only one i recall, and idk if he pulled a milotic) and the box is fsirly scarce being in that 2005 low period so it would have had to have been from loose packs or random raws in collections.
Its just cool and nice to see a top dog of an entire era that is not a charizard or even a legendary/pseudo legendary pokemon imo
I sold my Dragonite ex for $1299 this morning. Itâs tough to say goodbye to this one but I am committing to selling off 10âs (for the right price) and collecting 9âs.
I will say I also had an offer for this card for $1600 earlier in the year that I passed on.
In short, ex 10âs are too hard to grade myself and too expensive to buy from others. And 9âs can still very well be pack fresh cards, which is what Iâm mostly after.
$1600? wow. That must have been in the wake of that one really high outlier sale, because I bought one for $1000 also earlier this year. $1300 is a very strong price based on recent comps.
Also, I think transitioning from PSA 10s to 9s is a very reasonable move. For similar reasons, I did a similar sort of conversion (although over to CGC 9.5s). Ultimately, I just want pack fresh cards and am not super concerned about whatâs on the label (as long as everything within a set is the same grade).
I currently have for sale a PSA 10 Ninetales ex (pop 67) from Hidden legends & a PSA 10 Ampharos ex (pop 36) from EX Dragon, Not sure on the price points exactly especially the Ampharos could anyone give any advice? (Sorry if this should be in another thread)
The most recent Ampharos sale in the OP is listed at $1700, but that price is irregularly high, IMHO (I said this at the time of the sale, too). Thereâs one on eBay for $1266 OBO thatâs been sitting there for ~1.5 months with very little interest (as evidenced by the fact that the watcher count is low enough that eBay doesnât even display it).
If auctioned off today, my best guess is that it would end in between $750 and $1000.
My unsolicited opinion is that the card is currently somewhat undervalued compared to other exs in the set. For instance, Magcargo ex is worth ~$300 and it has over double the population of Ampharos and is a much less popular card. But the market works in mysterious waysâŠ
I updated the formatting of the OP to be tables. Itâs up to @randox but I can also make this thread a wiki so people can edit the OP as new sales come in instead of putting all the work on one person?
Something Iâve observed with EX that is really borne out by those results: how remarkably constricted the price range of exs is. Based solely on the pop figures and the relative popularities of these cards, youâd expect the spread of value to be significantly larger (e.g., $100 each for the less desirable exs and $600 each for the more desirable ones).
But, instead, all of these end between ~$300 to ~$400. It genuinely doesnât make sense to me. I would expect Flygon to be worth at least 3-4x as much as Walrein or Claydol â not merely 1.2x as much.
The same thing happens with PSA 9 exs, too â perhaps to an even greater degree than with PSA 10s. Almost every ex is worth between $100 and $200 ea in PSA 9 â only a relative few fall below or above that range. It just doesnât feel like a distribution that organically reflects supply/demand.
