Deriums is selling them $95 a box and he said they got 700 boxes preordered. All i can hear is Rudy from alpha yelling “WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU REPRINTING THESE POKEMON, GOD” lol
Tbh I have a lot of sealed evolutions stuff I was going to sit on for a while but now with Pokemon’s decision to reprint “out of print” products I have some thinking to do…
When I ordered all my Roaring Skies boxes, they were still at the RRP of $150 AUD. I’ve managed to sell a couple for a nice profit but with this announcement, rip my last couple of boxes, lol…
PSA: If you are sitting on Roaring Skies boxes with intent to resell, and this reprint means you can’t currently profit, do not sell. Sit and wait. Literally no hard facts exist yet and you could potentially still profit the same as before.
This is an awful move on behalf of TCPi. Stability of the secondary market is so important for something like a card game, and this is has put a major dent in their credibility. Who’s to say they won’t decide there’s a shortage of Rayquaza gold stars and do a ‘limited re-release’ of ex Deoxys next year? What if they decide to do an annual re-release of an old set every year?
I hope they put a different copyright date on the re-print cards. Ideally 2017. This way collectors can distinguish the old print and the reprint, like base set 1999 vs 1999-2000.
Well they did it for the current playable meta, so I doubt they would do anything like that for the OLD OLD sets. But yeah, it really makes you wonder if they would do it for another set in the future.
They reprinted many cards that were a few years old such as mewtwo ex and darkrai ex in the mewtwo vs darkrai boxes. A lot of the cards from the legendary bird decks recently were BW reprints also. This is an entire set now.
I feel if the decision was based purely on the health of the meta, Shaymin would be printed in a tin, or a there would be a functional reprint as a GX announced or something. The reprint of an entire set seems like a cash grab. I’d usually agree with your statement too saying that they wouldn’t reprint OLD OLD sets, but who knows. At the end of the day, they’re a business. If a precedent is going to be established that reprinting out of print sets is okay, then I really don’t know. Nostalgia sells too, and they know that.
I sold 36 loose pack lots (legit, not weighed) for anywhere from $170-$200 the last few months. Two people independently messaging me claiming damaged or missing items weeks later. Looking for a return for refund when I don’t accept returns. Let’s see how this plays out…
If anyone that has recently sold Roaring Skies gets returns or claims, can you post the usernames? I want to block everyone that pulls that crap ahead of time.
Depending upon the time-frame of your eBay Sales, you might actually get lucky… In order to maintain Top-Rated Seller Status on eBay; I have to allow returns for up to 30 Days. There was one occasion where I sold an Unl. Base Set Charizard for $80.00 on eBay. The 30-Day time-frame came and went without any issues - afterwards I received an eBay Message stating something along the lines of: I found this card for less from a different seller and would like to return this card for a full-refund. I messaged the buyer back stating my return policy and that I would not accept a return after 30-Days. Obviously, the buyer attempted to escalate the return through eBay.
After a few back-and-forth messages through the Return Case, I decided to call eBay and discuss the situation. I’m not sure if I just got lucky by being connected to a nice representative, or if this is actually eBay Policy, but the eBay Rep. was completely supportive with me! They said that as a general-rule, they like to offer the buyer 30-Days to return something. Since that time-frame was well past, it was no longer my responsibility - but they still needed to go through the formality of the Return Case.
Long story short, the Return Case escalated to eBay (as I was not willing to accept a return). Low and Behold, eBay sided with the seller!!! Something along the lines of it being standard practice among sellers to offer 30-Day Returns and since this time-frame was up, the buyer was shit out of luck (in nicer wording of course) LOL
If you are able too; try and get the buyers to admit that they are looking to return these packs because of the dropped price-point. Also, have the buyers already left you positive feedback? If So, I’m sure that would REALLY HELP your case!
Hopefully everything works-out for you - keep us posted!
