Woke up just in time to watch the final 10 minutes of the USA win the 10m air rifle gold! First medal of the tournament and USA takes the gold! China second and third.
USA! USA! USA! Watch you back @pokemonsyndicate or Ginny Thrasher will shoot a tiny hole through your no raritans!
Yeah what got me most about the incident is that his initial reaction is the realisation that all of his hard work, busting his ass for years has all just been washed away and his Olympics are over.
It’s never really evident that he is in pain at all.
I caught the tail end of the Rugby 7s. I felt so bad for Colombia getting thrashed by Australia like 53-0 or something. But my fiancee comes from a Rugby family and told me the Australian women are favourites to win.
Really disappointing to see Satu Mäkelä-Nummela didn’t make her way to semi-finals/finals of women’s trap shooting, so close! Keeping my fingers crossed Vesa Törnroos gets better outcome in men’s qualifying which are completed today/tomorrow.
Only 5 days to go for her competition (Women’s Skeet)
Here’s a quick bio but it leaves out her relentless commitment to children charities and young women support groups. The intensity and training she puts into her craft is only beat by her commitment to making the lives of the young better. Regardless of what country you’re from, this young lady deserves your attention:)
Women
Kim Rhode, USA
One of the most storied athletes in Olympic shooting history, Rhode will be looking to extend her medals streak to six straight Games. Her shooting journey began as a 13-year-old double trap specialist, and she worked her way onto the top of the Olympic podium at 17 in Atlanta in 1996, which is still a record for shooting. Her career Olympic haul includes three gold, one silver, and one bronze (two skeet, three double trap). Rhode is defending her London 2012 Olympics skeet gold medal, which she earned by scoring 99 of 100 possible points, a joint world record. Her already-unprecedented medals streak could reach 24-years with another trip to the podium—or one year longer than the age of her U.S. teammate Morgan Craft, 23.
Did you see how badly Ye Shiwen performed. There’s someting suspicious going on where the former reigning record holder performs the slowest out of the whole group.
How about that 41 year old gymnast Oksana Chusovitina?! I remember seeing her when she competed for Germany in 2008 and thought that was her last competition.
