I was there in 2017 and saw Olympic advertisement on some of the buildings and though man that is pretty far out, but now it feels like it was yesterday! Anyway I’m always excited for the Olympics!
Excited to see what the sprinting Yu-gi-oh duel master Noah Lyles has up his sleeves of course.
Sifan Hassan is super intriguing as she will be running middle distance from as short as 1500, as well as the marathon, which is atypical.
I follow Canadian runner Rory Linkletter on Strava and YouTube, and love how he balances family life/fatherhood with his training. Really excited to see him run the marathon.
The jumps, the throws, Olympic Weightlifting …gosh too many awesome events and people to list…all of them! I’m hyped!!!
Last but not least, the greatest,
Norwegian runner Jakob Ingebrigtsen…I CANNOT WAIT!
I am most excited for the boulder and lead climbing competition. Would be even better if they made three standalone climbing competitions but still way better than in Tokyo when they did speed, lead and bouldering combined.
I am going to climbing gym from time to time myself and do some bouldering. I love to see how the world elite is solving boulder problems that seem impossible. Almost all of the athletes competing are also very humble and nice. Furthermore, it’s one of the few competitions were people from my home country have realistic shot to win a medal.
However, I usually prefer Winter Olympics over the Summer ones, as winter sports are way bigger in my home country.
I always enjoy the track and field events. They always seem to be super hype. But also looking forward to javelin, badminton, wrestling and field hockey events this year since there seems to be the strongest representation from my home country with some medal hopes.
Track (100, 200 and 400 + all hurdles are incredible) and swimming. I will watch gymnastics for crazy athletes like Biles but otherwise not my favorite.
For me track and field + skeet/trap shooting are probably the main interest, especially men’s skeet and women’s pole vault are the ones where I think Finland has best chances to claim at least that one medal.
As usual it’s only a matter of time when Duplantis sets new record in men’s pole vault, in women’s high jump Yaroslava Mahuchikh has been doing so well lately I’d like to see her matching the current world record.
One of the strangest interests has to be open water swimming/triathlon mainly because the clean up process of Seine river finished just barely before olympics.
Not the biggest sports watcher outside the nhl but i do watch events where my country has some stars going into it. This year though I’ll be on vacation for a month and the Olympics falls right in the middle of it so I won’t be watching much if any.
I’m a volleyball and swimming nerd, so that’s where my attention will be. Tae Kwon do, as well, fun fact the 2020* gold medalist and I briefly trained together as kids
