Paris 2024 Summer Olympics

Based on your username I’m assuming I know who you and your brother are

As patriotic as I try to be for the Olympics, I think I can make an exception and give your brother a cheer! Pretty cool to see you part of this community and know that there is a pokemon enthusiast in the peloton too. Good luck the rest of the year!

Opening ceremony and team introduction started few moments ago, gotta say it’s really cool to see people sailing across the city instead of the usual way.

That abomination of an opening ceremony- and I do mean abomination in the literal sense- is exactly why I don’t care. No one should be watching this garbage.

@smpratte

This was really pleasant surprise, what an unforgettable way to end everything if this truly was her last public performance.

I enjoyed the opening ceremony! Especially Celine Dion and Juliette Armanet’s performances.

I enjoyed parts of it. Celine Dion and also Gojira duet with the orchestra was simply amazing. I found the players coming on the boats a bit unusual and the traditional walk would have been nice. I can understand there is so much scrutiny regarding the river and the water quality that they are really making the river as a focal point in everything.

Cheers!

I enjoyed it, if this was the first opening ceremony outside stadiums it was already time to shake up things a bit. There were really cool elements like the eiffel tower lights and the metal horse

Athletics, swimming, cycling, triathlon - basically anything race related but via the human body and not like F1 (not that the latter is an Olympic sport lol).

I hope I’m not the only one who thought of Legends Z-A at that part of the opening ceremony

These conditions for women’s cycling time trial have been really tricky, so many competitors have already fallen due to slippery road but no bigger injuries so far.

Oh wow, South Korea takes 10th gold medal back to back in women’s team archery. Absolutely massive feat.

Not the greatest day for triathlon, practices were cancelled because water was too polluted, also it was strange to see notice that Canada’s women’s football team lost 6 points after staff were caught spying another team with drone.

Germany upset japan in men’s volleyball, which is kind of insane

Triathlon will happen normally against all odds, the water counterflow seems to be noticeable right now so it’ll be rough day for competitors.

Vincent Hancock wins 4th men’s skeet gold medal in his career, finals were true nail-biter until very last clay pigeon.

Tomorrow night should be great when it comes to table tennis, Sweden’s Truls Möregårdh has already beaten so many high ranked opponents before finals.

This happened already 2 days ago yet it is still hard to understand what happened during final lap of 4x400m mixed relay, Femke Bol had so much to catch up and she still passed 3 other teams to claim gold for team Netherlands.

Men’s hammer throw was pretty much one man show, the 84m+ opening throw by Ethan Katzberg left others no chance.

Also qualification for women’s pole vault was one of strangest events for sure, number one favourite Molly Caudery didn’t even pass opening height and the finals will have 20 (!) competitors instead of 12.

She is a beast when it comes to 400m. The ease at which she planned and the last 100m was just clinical. I feel both women for Netherlands did awesome with Bol being just class apart. The 400m hurdles will be a very interesting with all of these superstars in the mix.

So also, in Field Hockey, India managed to ward off Great Britan for 45 mins being one man down (red carded) and clinched the game at the penalty shootout. Was very exciting to watch.

Cheers!
