Since it’s only few days before this event starts I figured out we need another football thread just like during 2014 Brazil World Cup. 
What team has the best chances to win whole thing in your opinion?
What are your overall expectations with this tournament held in Russia?
Do you think we see another major upset like Germany 7 - Brazil 1 or will the competition be extremely even between the biggest countries?
I think the US is favored this year. 
Struggle to look past the likes of Brazil and Germany Based on tournament experience. So many good teams in it this year though - Belgium probably have the best team on paper but they are a team of individuals. Uruguay and Senegal could be dark horses to go deep into the competition too.
I’m absolutely buzzing for it. Harry Kane to be top goalscorer - you heard it here first!

First of all I hope Neymar is back to being fully fit for Brazil. I don’t think he’s played since he broke a bone in his foot back in March. He is so good and was amazing in 2014. Sadly got injured in that tournament and didn’t play against Germany. Oh what could of been.
From my perspective and from an English standpoint I/we don’t have any expectations as a nation. Our team is very inexperienced and young. However we have a manager in Southgate who seems to have a plan and who installs belief in his players unlike many before him. Sterling is a major threat with Kane the new captain.
Overall I’m not that excited yet for the tournament, maybe because it’s in Russia and the league season has only just finished. Or the fact this World Cup and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar were probably won through FIFA bribes. Don’t get me started. But come the first game don’t worry I’ll be watching 90% of the games.
France have a monster team with fantastic attacking players and I scary midfield.
Brazil are always dangerous which looks defensive minded this time out, beware.
Germany I can’t see them retaining, not enough fire power. Spain is a great technical team and are my pick.
Argentina with Messi be good, remains to be seen. Belgium won’t do anything, just a bunch of put together premier league players with an manager not up to it.
England I pray and maybe just maybe.
Portugal with Ronaldo who are reigning European champions know how to win, but it will be too hard for them this time around.
So Spain winners and hope this tournament is a great success. It really does bring people from different parts of the world together. Please no hooligan fan trouble, Russian fans are notorious for it and many other nations fans.
I think the mascot is cute, I might buy one.

Argentina/Germany is what I’m thinking
My cousin plays for Mexico, but I dont see him playing a game since he’s getting old and is the 3rd string goalkeeper for them. Already had a great career though. CONCACAF CUP(silver in 2007, Gold in 2009), 2011 Pan American Games Gold and was their starter in the 2012 Olympics where they won Gold.

I like Brazil a lot for this tournament, they’re deep, and the entire starting 11 is very solid with a lot more experience. Have tons of goal scorers if they win their group, they avoid Germany Argentina and Spain (most likely). I think France is weak

France hasn’t been relevant since Zizou left in 2006.
I hope he gets a lot of playing time. Deserves it, especially with his work rate off the ball
I agree with you about everything you said on Brazil and I also think they’ll win it. But to say France is weak is bold, they’ve got a great squad this year, were finalists in the Euros two years ago and have a chance of getting far in this world cup.
Yeah I think France obviously has a chance to win it. A lot of talent in the squad, but collectively I can’t see them winning the tournament together. Think Lloris is past his prime too
