Received damaged booster boxes

Recently got 5 booster boxes in the mail from Europe to America, 2 of the 5 boxes are damaged enough to decrease their value. Ideally I’d just want 5 booster boxes in the pristine condition the other 3 are in. How would you handle this if you were in my position?

I don’t necessarily want to ship them back and eat the $50 shipping cost or whatever it is. The box they arrived in was perfect and not damaged, so it looks like I was just sent boxes that were damaged to begin with.

@two, what boxes? How bad are they? Are you opening them or keeping them sealed?

This is important.

Otherwise I’d just ask for a partial refund.

They’ll decrease the value. Paid $400 each. I’m keeping them sealed, wanted to hold for a long time as a collectible. Cards inside likely not damaged but still not best eye appeal

I think in your case since it’s 400$ i would ask for a partial refund because thats high enough to justify a complaint, especially since you feel that the person shipped you some boxes straight up damaged.

Surprisingly I ordered from Europe lately and my package came damaged via post too. However, mine is only a 90$ purchase and it came from Italy, and I just thought with the covid situation (I ordered in april I think) there I felt they needed the money more than I did, so I just wrote the item off. For 800$ I would have complained though.

Thanks. What’s a fair partial refund you think per box. If I had to estimate about 8-15% of each box is damaged. Regardless it’s enough to justify someone wanting to pay me less later down the line …

If you think it’s just minor damage, like all the seals are good and its just aesthetics that might make it slightly harder to sell, I would just charge the person whatever the return shipping would have been if I had to return them. So maybe around 60$ in your case? That way if I was in the shoes of the seller, I would feel like you just don’t want to have the hassle to return something and want just minor compensation, and you’re not looking to scam anyone.

It’s harder to tell in your case because I would be a bit annoyed if it felt like the seller was trying to offload some damaged inventory on me since you think the box was intact.

@two $100-$150 range seems about fair. $50-$75 per damaged box. $50 is a 1/8 of the price. Maybe $200 max. Or if they don’t agree have them pay the return shipping which might sway them to take your deal.

The damage isn’t your fault so return shipping isn’t something I feel you should cover. I know on smaller orders I always make the seller pay return shipping but i rarely return items. I usually go partial refund myself when things like this happens

Goods received… not as described. (You said it has nothing to do with the box/way the seller packed and shipped the goods AKA they tried to “dupe” you)

You’re being too nice here, this isn’t any different than getting a resealed box, a fake box, etc. you bought the contents as shown and described in the listing + whatever interactions you had with the seller, and received products that weren’t that. Shady transaction done by a shady seller, negative rep and you go from there.
