Recently sold a booster pack on eBay. The buyer opened the pack and found 3 cards had creases on top - common cards worth about $5 total. I offered $20 partial refund because all other cards ok. But buyer insists on full refund and I couldn’t win because eBay says I am liable for any damages. I packed it pretty well and I believe this could’ve been a factory defect. Called eBay and was told I’m shit outta luck. They don’t really listen to the fact that I’m basically gonna lose everything. Has this happened to you guys? Any tips on how to deal with this loophole?
Not much you can do other that accept the return, block the buyer and suck it up.
Can you link the buyers feedback…
Would be helpful to share bad buyer information on here for the other sellers to block or avoid. They might also have experience with the same buyer.
That’s not terribly uncommon and happened a lot with the Neo Destiny secret rares. In terms of winning the case it depends on how you described the listing and how you argued the case with ebay. You also should only be reimbursing the exact value of the damaged items.
So if you listed this with something in the description along the lines of
“used but never opeend, cards may be damaged even though packs and box are sealed” you should be okay?
What kind of description would cover you in a case like this? Is there no way to make the item non-returnable in the listing?
somewhat of an ebay noob here, as far as selling…
I’ve added a line: “no returns if opened”. hope that will work for all future sealed packs.
lesson learned. also hoping that person doesn’t send me back an empty envelope.
eBay probably doesn’t care if you get your item back anyhow…
