eBay: Damaged Fan Club Eevee Question

Hello, I recently won an auction for an ungraded Fan Club Eevee and I paid about $1k for it. Upon receiving the card, I noticed a crease on it. I don’t see the crease on the seller’s photos, so at this point I’m suspecting it’s some kind of damage during transit. I opened a return case on eBay, but the seller is trying to give me a partial refund and is asking me what percentage I would take. I’d much rather just return the damaged card and move on since I only collect mint cards and would have to sell it to recoup my money otherwise. I guess what complicates things is that the seller is in Hong Kong and I’m in the US, so it’s hard to do return shipments. Does anyone have experience returning something to a different country on eBay?

I’d like to ask for advice on what I should do here. Should I push harder for a return/full refund, or if I do accept a partial refund, how much should I ask for? I’ve never seen a damaged one for sale so I don’t know how much I can get for it if I tried to sell it. Thank you in advance for your help. Just a sucky situation for both the seller and me :slightly_frowning_face:

Do not settle for anything short of a full refund. You were not the one who packaged it poorly or perhaps even sold the card knowing it was creased. It is not your fault and you are not liable.

Alternatively, if you wanted to keep the card then ask for a refund of (price you paid - current card value in its condition). However, something tells me you may be receiving a gem mint copy in the mail soon

Good luck,
Mac

Stand your ground and be firm but polite and professional as you have been thus far. eBay will 100% decide in your favor and force the return on the seller. Rightfully so assuming all the facts as stated are correct which I’d have no reason to suspect they aren’t.

Unless the seller is willing to offer 2/3 of the money back then request a full refund. That’s your decision but in that condition I wouldn’t settle for a large partial refund.

It would be helpful to the seller if you clarified how the package may likely have been damaged during transit. If the seller had insurance this would be helpful for them to get compensated. The damage definitely does not appear to be present in the photos, so either way it is an easy win for you.
