The Rayquaza EX (Pokemon Game Show: Mystery Card Battle 2013 is a card with very little information about it. This post is to showcase some info and shed light on this elusive card:
There are only 8 copies in exsistence of this card, with only 2 being graded by PSA. Not much is known about the contest itself, but we do know it also had a keldeo and a few other promotional trainer cards that were awarded to the top 4 competitors. I’ve found 1 of the 2 graded certs along with 3 websites and 1 insta post
Very informal document, please help me find more information about this card and any more auctions/ information. This is one of my favorite pokemon and just want to gather enough info about it.
Yup, there’s three of them graded. The 9 should be on IG iirc. Each card came with it’s own plaque: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place. The card was not that valuable until recent years, here’s an old photo of a raw copy for a couple grand:
Regarding the tournament, it was held August 17-18, 2013. Two leagues: elementary and an open league. In order to win a prize card, the participant had to win 3 consecutive games to qualify for the 2 stage with 16 players. Top 4 players made it to the final round and each was awarded a prize card. Rayquaza was awarded on the second day. Source
While Xiao makes some questionable posts, and has done some questionable things, he’s still very wealthy and owns some very expensive cards. I don’t have reason to believe there’s anything “wrong” with this card.
