Hi everyone, I just wanted to share this since I don’t see many reviews or photos actually detailing the assembly of these plastic cases. I know he has done one himself on YouTube but I still would have wanted other opinions.
So here is mine! I have to say I’m very pleased with these products. They arrived in a secure hard envelope and were pristine flat. The thing I liked the most about the cases is that while it is just a piece of plastic, it seemed very well made and certainly well thought through. For example the hinges really fold well with just one touch of pressure, and yet once folded…you can bend them back in place to get the 90 degree look very easily. You can see in the photos, how well the cover stays in shape, even when only two sides are assembled.
No complaints at all…except that two of my booster boxes seemed to just have a perfect fit in terms of their widths…so it is a tight squeeze to close the side. But that’s fine.
My one worry - which I’m not sure about…is that given this is plastic…will longterm exposure of it to the shrink-wrap seal cause them to stick together in time? (I’m thinking moisture etc)
bonus image: i found these boxes at a local Daiso store…which seem to be a perfect carrying case solution for booster boxes still not sure about the look though…
Those are great. You can put your boxes in one of those and even still fit it in a hard plastic case which completely prevents any movement of the box whatsoever.
Hey, Thanks for the review, this was a fun surprise to find on E4!
I am glad to see that you appreciate that I put all of the tabs towards the bottom, it’s for getting the best result when having them on display.
(it hurts when I see people put all of the tabs towards the top, haha!)
I actually have two thickness variants of the box, I believe the one you got were 0.20mm thickness. I also have a 0.25mm thickness box which was from the “first print run”. Those are the ones I personally like the best, they are slightly less flimsy. But unfortunately my contact at the plastic factory could not produce more in that material at this time so I only have a limited supply of them left.
The boxes are made in acid-free PET plastic, so they shouldn’t damage the box seals overtime.
But since this is a relatively new product (I started selling them just over a year ago). It’s impossible to say how the long time storage with them would actually be in reality.
I can also add that at this time, I still have special sizes for Japanese Base-Neo boxes, as well as for Japanese EX-era boxes.
I did have protectors for English EX and e-series but they are completely sold out.
Unfortunately my contact also has problems to make any new models, but hopefully in the future I can expand the selection more
@martincollects I love the box sleeves as well! I think they are great. I have always had the same concern of something happening over time with the plastics, but I am just paranoid about those things. As long as they are stored safely, I don’t believe there should be any long term effect.
My only constructive criticism i would like to add is regarding the tabs as they sometimes catch the seal of my boxes. Maybe in the future you will have these without the tabs!
I didn’t realize these were produced and sold by a fellow E4 member. I too am a big fan of these cases; I have a wall display of empty WOTC boxes, each encased in these plastic protectors. They look and work beautifully!
About a year ago you asked me to sample these when finished. This is the first I’ve seen of them since. Glad you worked it all out. What is your price for 200? You can pm me.
I’m another satisfied customer of @martincollects! I ordered 10 of his booster box cases and they all were excellent. They were all just alike, with no inconsistencies or flaws.
They are very simple to fold into form and the booster box goes in nice and snugly. All the different flaps are cut so that they lock into place!
The plastic is super transparent; there is no hindrance to the visual quality while displaying the box inside of it. Even where the case components overlap it is still completely transparent.
The “tabs” that lock the lid down are not shown so long as they are on the bottom of the box. I’m sure this is how it was designed to be, but even if you for some reason have the tabs on top, they are still super see through.
He was very responsive and timely in messaging back and forth too! I give the cases a 10/10 and recommend them to all!
