Today’s Question: QotD: What’s the best Pokemon related luck you’ve ever gotten?

The best luck I have had was probably when I bought a D&P Trainer kit (£35) for the Booster Pack inside (They have a small chance to contain a late-EX Series pack but usually contain DP Series)
I think most already know my answer for this, haha. (Sold my EDB PSA-10 trio for 150k USD during the Waifu bubble, and used that plus all my savings money plus a good mortgage to buy a house as a single guy. )
FYI: My house isn’t nearly as big as the one in the meme above, lol.
Can’t think of anything. Supreme Victors pulls were insane but I didn’t really enjoy them so that doesn’t count. If anything, that just underlines how my “luck” tends to work.
I used to be an avid shiny hunter, especially in college when I had more free time than I knew what to do with.
My first ever full odds hunts in Gen 3 was a FireRed Mewtwo. I’ve had two 1/8192 hunts ever take more than 50K encounters, and this was one of them. I would pick this hunt up on and off over the course of 5 years, because doing all of that in one go would’ve driven me crazy.
I was hanging with a buddy one day, asking about how many encounters I was at, and he basically told me I was never gonna get it at the point I was at, and I guess my FireRed took that personally, because I found that damn Mewtwo within the hour and absolutely lost my mind. I love that stupid neon psychic cat.
I found a random shiny 1/8192 Pidgey the next day.
Getting selected for the Himeno, Arita, and Harada Regional panels and watching their demonstrations or in Himenos case, seeing her prototype work and listening to her stories about her career.
I opened a single Brilliant Stars booster box back in 2022 and had the luck of the gods. These were all from a single box. I have never had luck this absurd before.
Played in a in person tournament and came very close to last and out of my single prize pack I pulled the Alt Lugia from Silver Tempest ahahahah another would be when I canceled an order for a 25th celebrations ETB got my refund but a week and a bit later one arrived and I pulled the Zard from it!
In September of 2023 I found a listing on a local platform (the biggest one in Austria, bigger than Facebook marketplace/eBay) with a couple of DS games, including Pokemon Ranger: Shadow of Almia for a total of 20€. I messaged the guy and and he said that the Pokemon game (and another one) was unfortunately sold but the rest is available. I said I am mainly interested in the Pokemon game and therefore unfortunately had to pass. What started like a pretty usual story ended up becoming one of the best second hand experiences in my life.
A couple days later he messaged me out of the blue and said if I would be still interested in all the games including the Pokemon one. I said yeah sure and we started chatting a little bit. We agreed to meet but he canceled on me the day before because he got sick. I was getting a little bit sceptical because I did not here from him for a couple of weeks but then he messaged me again stating he also found two other Pokemon games. Here is what he sent me:
He asked if I would need a Nintendo DS as well and he would sell me everything for a total of 25€ (all the games were CIB, he just took pictures of the loose carts because he wanted to fit them all on one photo).
We then again agreed to meet and finally met a couple of days later. When we met I was telling him that he was selling this for way too cheap and he answered that he knows that but he was just happy that those games are now in good hands because most of the other messages he got were just people being rude. I insisted on giving him at least a little bit extra because he was such a nice guy and we agreed on 35€ in total.
I still have all the games in my collection today and I think from time to time about this great interaction.
Edit: tl,dr and maybe because it is not that well visible, but I got Pokémon White, Platinum, Ranger: Shadow of Almia, a DS Lite and some other games for total of 35€
This is one of my favourite QOTD I’ve seen, as it reminded me how much joy Pokémon has given me over the years from random lucky moments. I have a terrible memory but for some reason, lucky Pokémon moments still hang out in my brain.

Pulling base set Blastoise as a kid on Christmas
Forbidden Light I was playing at my local store and it was a joke that one of my friends could steal all the pack luck, so I refused to open my participation pack with him at the store - opened it on the bus home and got rainbow Ultra Necrozma.
New country, new friends, new local store and now it became the joke that I had the luck, and that every alternating prelease I would pull insanely hot. For Unified Minds prerelease I was scheduled to pull hot and I called that I would pull my chase, the alt art Tyranitar & Mega Sableye, which I promptly did a couple of packs later.
Also for any Pokémon Sleepers out there, I have a crazy good shiny Dedenne on there.
my instinct is to say something financially related or even pack pull related. And there are many examples I could choose from. But I want to change it up
I would actually say the best luck ive had was sending 29 cards to psa in 2025, and receiving 29 PSA 10s.
Thes odds of geming out everything was low considering I included English cards as well as vintage
In my opinion, PSA has been ridiculously difficult to grade with this year so sending out this many cards and not receiving a single 9 or lower is def lucky!
I caught a legendary with a pokeball once. All my luck goes to other people if Im being realistic. I guess you could say Ive met alot of great people because of Pokemon. Like this forum for example. That alone I consider luck in a sense.
One time when I was super young and didn’t know what shiny pokemon was, I was in the water and found a shiny tentacool. I thought my game broke so I offed my ds and restarted it. Found it again still shiny and caught it thinking it was just how tentacools in this part of the water looked. Didn’t question it ever again for some reason. Then found out what shiny pokemon was. So basically I peaked when I was like 5 or however old children are
