In general if we want to talk about “same generation” and “similar” you cant get better then the evolution lines of the starters of each generation. Specifically the middle stages. or, the “awkward teen” stages of the starters. unfortunately they are constantly being outshined and often forgotten about sometimes, with there first and last evolution’s being much more memorable.

But I feel dragonite was never outshined. Charizard is loved way too much but dragonite got equal love too

dragonite probably fills a similar role but he evolves/is found so late in the game, most people probably had a charizard with plenty of memories by then

as a Charizard basics enthusiasts….can you blame em?

beat me to it. First thing I think of. Why is dragonite this way when dratini and dragonair are blue anyhow? Design fail. Two orange dragons? Yeah sure.

Golem is so unlucky because of the trade and link cable concept. Getting ahold so early people go for rhydon instead of golem only for this reason.

I think not many people will think of Spearow or Fearow first when you ask them about Gen 1 bird Pokémon. The pidgey line however would quickly be named.
