The Question of the Day is a way to facilitate community discussion to help members ponder the unanswered questions of the world that are somehow relating to the hobby. Questionsj are many times open ended and up to interpretation. Feel free to post your thoughts in as much or as little detail as you’d like.
Helpful Considerations may or may not help some people focus their answer, these are blurred to not bother those who have their own ideas.
Today’s Question: QotD: If you could be your own gym leader, what type would you specialize in, and what would your gym be like?(This was a suggested question)
Helpful Considerations: Any specific rulings for battle? 2v2, no switching, only 3 pokemon, etc?
Its just a big Octogon, 2v2, trainers are involved. You have to literally fight your opponent and their pokemon. If it isn’t animal abuse, it isn’t a human rights violation.
I mean that or an electric type gym where you have to beat the gym leader at an arcade machine game of your choice.
All gimmicks on the table double battles, normal gym. --Eevee (with crystal), Terapagos, Porygon2, Eevee (gigantamax), Mega Lopunny-- might be a little too hard so just like make the team short of the eevees a little underleveled (8th gym)
Lightning type! With rock shrines of legendary electric Pokémon all around the gym. Shows respect and a lack of fear for rock. Gym would be an open dome concept so lightning can come out of the sky for my battles. Yellow seats in the stands. As soon as the battle starts the thunderstorm rolls in.
An old abandoned hospital with a psych ward type long aisle where the battling happens, surrounded with different kinds of details to make the surroundings more fitting for my team, like therapy pool and a section where nature has taken over some area, naturally with some toxic waste lying around and entrances to sewers everywhere
I had given this a thought a while back and I liked the idea of scenarios presented to the trainer to gauge the trust / synergy or harmony of the Pokemon trainer with it’s Pokemon and a team as a whole.
My gym would have no direct battling. I will come up with scenarios eg.
Calamity rescue situation involving both humans and Pokemon
Rogue powerful Pokemon on the loose
Stopping criminal activity
Infiltration and espionage
Runaway train carrying baby Pokemon and Pokemon eggs etc
Tha aim is to have a non lethal way to gauge the quality and ability of a trainer and how they can work as a team and believe in the ‘heart of the Pokemon’
For younger more inexperienced trainers, the tasks may vary from helping townsfolk to something like the Pokemon performance contests.
I will have my trusty Dragonite by my side to help me with these scenarios, as well as few other Pokemon which fit the tasks the best.
The trainer also get to choose a favourable scenario based on type advantages eg. Fire rescue mission for a team comprised of water Pokemon etc. they can bring a max of 6 Pokemon and can use them all to get the badge.
Final decision is solely based on my own judgement depending on how the trainer and it’s Pokemon perform. I will award them with a ‘Synergy’ or a ‘Heart’ badge.
