PSA suspending most services as of Mar 30 2021

This is good (except for our great middleman services). At the same time, carve off the entire top layer of management and throw them on the garbage heap. Then hire some E4 members to bring it back strong:)

Good

Yeah, this news initially made me happy because it seems great for CGC. But you just reminded me how INSANE this is going to be for CGC TATs. Like, it wouldn’t surprise me if their TCG submission volume increases by like 500% because of this.

Yeah my bulk submission is totally screwed… sigh. Time to submit now before the avalanche I guess

Imagine being so incompetent that you are stuck grading cards at $7.50 each from a year ago while declining new submissions at $50 and higher. Lol. Just charge market rates already. 2x didn’t do it so go 5x or 10x.

I revise my previous guess for $30/card PSA floor by mid year to a $50/card floor. Hell maybe $100 will be required for sports if they want to split that off. CGC $40 a pop. You know truckloads are heading to them on top of what has already caused their grading time to triple and prices to substantially increase as well.

PSA shutting down receipts just ensures everyone has a pallet ready to go once they reopen unless the prices are just absolutely mind bogglingly exorbitant. Short term this shutdown is bullish for cards already encapsulated just creating a vicious cycle making the problem worse.

This sucks for PSA middleman services.
There are shops and people that do this for a living.
Maybe this will cause another price spike even though regular service level cards
probably wouldn’t be finished until July anyway. How is everyone else adapting to these
changes?

Fantastic idea. Can’t wait to get my existing submissions back!

Sounds like we are about to see a mass increase in the prices for low to mid value PSA graded cards. If the supply was already low to begin with, this is just going to compound the problem even further as word gets out. Even when they re-open, there is no guarantee that they will open up the bulk or economy tiers anytime soon. IMO could be 2022 before returns from lower tiers even start appearing.

Read this announcement 30 minutes after it was posted but also right before I was about to start a submission fml…

If you submit now, you’ll be part of the avalanche lol. It’s too late to get in before it. Luckily, I submitted most of what I wanted to submit weeks ago. But even that might get caught up in the avalanche…

Bulk will be $30-40 a card when they reopen, and they’ll do away with the regular submission level #e4bets

Is it really going to decrease the supply of PSA cards on the market? I don’t think it will. It’s not as though their grading output will change; there just won’t be new cards added to the backlog.

I agree their output won’t change but the supply is already low in the sense of them not being able to produce enough to meet the current demand. The “problem” I was mentioning was mainly FOMO and people upset that they couldn’t get their cards in. All in all, I guess what I’m predicting is that people will react irrationally to this news and we could see some weird market action as a result

I mean… it now costs $300 to grade one card. This effectively does raise prices.

And for anyone who might be panicking - if you were originally planning to submit at the $20/$100/$150 tiers, don’t worry. Your place in line would be no different if you submitted tomorrow vs. 3 months from now.

I’m just anxious to see what happens with CGC and BGS. I doubt they’re prepared to shoulder the current demand for grading services that PSA was burdened with. It will be interesting to see how many people bite the $300 bullet at PSA, hold off until they reopen, or try to grade with CGC/BGS. I’d imagine these companies would have to cut off submissions as well.

Our goal is to bring all suspended service levels back by July 1, 2021.

I wouldn’t be shocked if this is kind of a noble lie - the value level just seems too backed up and may as well be shut down for a year.

Already sent one in late December :stuck_out_tongue: I’m referring to my express sub, which I had planned to send late April, now I’ll have to do it this weekend. Sigh…

i know they said they’re extending memberships by 3 months, but does anybody have an idea if that includes vouchers set to expire before 7/1?

It seems very likely they will receive another massive wave of submissions when they open back up (I will probably have about 1,000 cards waiting for that day personally).

However, this gives them a little time to fix their logistics backlog in addition to grading backlog. Right now it is probably very, very expensive for them to be receiving all those packages right now and storing them. They probably had to ramp up considerably on their “receiving” department.

They are probably trying to solve THAT problem right now by pausing, as opposed to “how do we grade all these cards!”

I think it would be smart if they limited volume; 100 cards value per month to start, in order to get prevent another surge when they bring them back.

I feel like Indiana Jones escaping the Temple of Doom with the timing of this submission. Legit got this email while reading about them shutting down at the tiers i submitted at…
